Nothing works

1
Keeping my money under the mattress never seemed more appealing than having been dealing with Paragon Bank. Slow, poor customer service and no wish to make anything easy. Reviewed on: 17th August 2017

Update on my complaint to Paragon Bank

1
Made my complaint no reply from Paragon Bank, so I chased them up and was told by their customer services" staff that basically they have one set of rules to follow and are unable to move on their position so nothing they can do. So I moved to Ulster Bank with exactly the same set of circumstances and my account was opened in minuets with no issues what so ever." Reviewed on: 11th July 2017

Difficult people to deal with, staff putting obstacles in front of simple process

1
Should be a simple process to open an online savings account, but not so with Paragon Bank made worse by unhelpful staff not wanting to look for any solutions to issues created by their systems. Wasted my time trying to deal with these people. Reviewed on: 6th July 2017

Avoid Paragon Bank - incompetent!

1
They were unable to process what should have been a simple PoA savings account for my elderly mother with dementia. The application forms and gathering the required information took about 4 hours, and as they couldn't find the solicitors who certified the PoA document, they returned it, and as I was away for a week wen it arrived, I was unable to deal with it until I got back. I was told that was too late and that if I wanted to continue with the application I could only do that by starting the whole process again! There was nothing wrong with the application and nothing wrong with the information I provided. The solicitor who certified the PoA copy was the same solicitors office who prepared the PoA document and the address was already on the document. I can't take the risk of re-applying. As well as the hours it would take to do so, I would have no guarantee that they wouldn't find some other reason to fail. In the mean time, they were happy to bank the £85,000 cheque. The funds were returned, but the interest was never paid. They kept it. Use a different bank. Reviewed on: 31st May 2017

On the verge of investing and then.....

1
I was searching for a bank I could invest a considerable amount of money into; I was attracted to Paragon because of their competitive interest rates (who wouldn't be...) struggled with the internet and kept losing the page. Wondered if someone was trying to tell me something....I then searched a bit more thoroughly and found lots of very negative reviews. Don't want to be dealing with a bank like this if the reviews are correct - shall be taking my money elsewhere.. Reviewed on: 8th April 2017

extremely unhelpful, awkward, extremely old fashioned, unhelpful dreadful ridiculous

1
I have had five relays of communication over proving ownership of my account. They have been extraordinarily awkward/ridiculous and their last correspondence has prompted me to write this because they have now very much entered the territory of ridiculing a customer. Why are they happy to devote so much of their time torturing individuals with unnecessary and extreme measures? They have not accepted a means of evidence that two other financial organisations have accepted. Reviewed on: 27th March 2017

Very poorly trained staff & managment. They are Rude, Incompetant Liars.

Opened account and all seemed well. THEN received a letter asking me to send a current bank statement to confirm that my nominated bank A/c, (Barclays) was my bank. This was the same bank A/c that used to transfer my 65k from? When i queried this I drew a blank so asked to speak to a manager who was also unable to explain - just told me that i had no choice. Not wishing to have complications accessing my rather large amount of money i reluctantly sent it on. Two weeks later rang and asked how long before it get returned and was told that it has been sent(?). Waited another 3 days and no sign. phoned again and told that it had been sent. said i have already been told that and was then admonished for wasting her time if I already knew that!! I again asked to speak to a manager and was told that she would get one would ring me. 8 DAYS later I was called and she told me she had listened to all the phone messages and apologised and told me that because i had been messed about that she will send back my statement by recorded delivery. (Wow, I was so elated. How bloody magnanimous of them). She was also unable to explain why it was needed. just told me it was something to do with security. Anyway, recorded delivery arrived and I immediately transferred my funds out, never to return. Despicable behaviour by a company that you are meant to trust to look after your hard-earned. Never again. Coventry now have my funds. Chalk & Cheese. Reviewed on: 23rd November 2016

Online bank with restricted online access

I was initially quite impressed by the ease of opening a savings account and the simplicity of their website. After depositing some money (via bank transfer, as it is not possible from their website), I logged on to check that the money had been received. After pressing the login key the website just died. I kept trying without success and emailed the bank. They replied saying it was not accessible via an Apple product (Macbook, Ipad etc.) and I needed a computer with Internet Explorer as there were problems with Firefox, Google Chrome, and others. There was no apology or indication that they were planning on changing this. Reviewed on: 6th November 2016

No empathy and mistakes to apologise for mistakes following bereavement!!

1
We had to close an account following my mother-in-laws passing away. I would need to write a lot to explain how diabolically the bank - on EVERY level - dealt with the process from the first phone call, right up to apologising for the many mistakes they made. They even wrote to my mother-in-law to apologise, following knowledge that she had passed away. This is the essence of how they treat their customers, bank with them if you dare. Straightforward, honest people

Opening account was easy and they have acted with integrity over the recent rate cuts allowing closure without notice, an option that I have not taken up, but at least they offered it. Reviewed on: 9th September 2016
