Deducting two excess payments for single condition

1
Our dog developed crucial ligament problems and three claims were made for ongoing treatment by the same vets who have several branches. Pet wise claim that their ts and cs allow this as our dog’s was treated by two separate practises. Despite proving that it is a single company with four branches Petwise refuse to acknowledge this. We are now being threatened with recovery action and risk not only going on a blacklist but worse, if we accept what Petwise are stating then any future conditions our dog may develop may lead to a repeat of their deducting excesses for us taking the dog to a branch where they have more diagnostic equipment than the vet’s branch nearest to us. It doesn’t augur well for us. However we will take our case all the way to the ombudsman if they continue to refuse the payout Reviewed on: 17th March 2023

Death of my dog

1
My dog was put to sleep in December 2022, as of Feb 2023 they have just come back to me and said they will not pay the £150 claim for death. This is because my dog had been to the vets previously with arthritis...err well arthritis is a degenerative illness! It became so bad it was kinder to say goodbye . Reviewed on: 21st February 2023

Petwise is a scam

1
Having waited for many weeks trying to claim for a simple autopsy for our cat, Petwise declined our claim and went on to charge us £199 excess. It was a very standard claim, our vet told us that it's a very normal procedure and they've processed the paper work many times with other insurers. Avoid Petwise, they are beyond useless, they take advantage of people in need. Reviewed on: 4th January 2023

MULTIPLE EXCESS TRAP WITH PETWISE

1
BE AWARE! If you have a claim with your regular vet who then refers you on to another for treatment that they cannot provide you will get caught for the excess FOR EACH TREATING VET. My dog has just been referred for a scan that my regular vet has not the equipment for and I have had to suck up 2 x the £199 excess that was not brought to my attention when I renewed. I am now stuck with this insurer for this condition as, if I change insurers, I won't be covered for the condition now being treated. Furious doesn't begin to describe my feelings just now..... Poor service

1
On the 12/09/21 my dog poppy came in from back garden and couldn't use her back leg. On visiting the my vets she had to have xray and after refered to Vets4Pets in Halifax for further investigation. After investigating it was established that she had suffered cruciate ligament injury. She had to have a operation but was advised that this was the most common operation they carried out. I paid the bill in full and put it on my credit card as the bill was £3250. After a few days I put my claim in and after weeks of not hearing anything I contacted petwise and was told it would be processed in ten days. After more then 3 months I am still waiting for my claim to be payed out. I have contacted petwise on over 20 occasions by email and phone. They have questioned my qualifications and now splitting the bill into two conditions. I have put in a formal complaint and was told I would receive £30 compensation  which was never paid. PLEASE DO NOT USE PETWISE. In more then 30 years as a dog owner I have only ever made one claim with legal and general pet insurance and was paid out in weeks. Reviewed on: 3rd January 2022

Awful

1
If you have to make a claim it will be a long drawn out process lasting months. Even when your pet has passed away, they take 2 months to start assessing the claim and still no sign of when they may settle. Reviewed on: 6th September 2018
