Very unprofessional company

Very unprofessional staff, very long wait on the phone if you ever need to talk to anybody and you will be lucky if you did not get cut off after 30 mins wait. Cheap but for a good reason. I can only wonder how things will be if ever there is a claim, if this is how clients are dealt with at quotation stage! Reviewed on: 9th July 2019

Disgusting Company with rip off fees

Recently had to change address, a change of circumstances I couldn't avoid, did the right thing by contacting Provident to change my address once I was settled in only to be hit with a £300 extra charge, £50 a month on top of my already expensive (£132) a month policy. When I asked why the charge was so high I was fed a load of bs, this area might have more accidents and crime blah blah, they may have well have just been honest with me and said "because we can and we have you by the balls" of course you are welcome to cancel your policy but that will cost you too! It's horrible that we are held to gunpoint over these things and no one wants to do a thing about it while the fatcats get fatter and purposely make people poorer! Reviewed on: 21st March 2019

Beware of providing your card details or trying to buy online

Despite the fact that I was told the original premium quoted was not correct and I said I would not go ahead with the policy they still took the money from my credit card not once - but twice. It has taken screen shots of my credit card bill, them replaying the telephone conversation and nearly 24 hours later for them to agree to refund the money. They "had a problem with their systems that day" is not acceptable as an excuse. I would not consider buying from them ever again. Reviewed on: 13th March 2019

Worst insurance company ever!!!

In all my life I’ve never experienced such shocking service from any company. After a full year of being insured with Provident I was sent a very generic email telling me they could not renew my claim for the following year and I would have to find alternative cover. No explanation, no thanks for a year of paying us and making no claims, just see ya !! Upon phoning them I was passed to a so called “team leader” only to be unceremoniously hung up on when expressing my dismay at suddenly being without insurance through no fault of my own and with no explanation. Shoddy treatment of customers, unprofessional staff, no loyalty whatsoever and quite happy to add stress and financial burden to customers for no good reason other then some clap trap about computer systems which only reminded me of the computer says no sketch from Little Britain. I advise anyone researching this company to stay well away because come renewal time you may find yourself up the creek and Provident simply won’t give a tiny rats backside! Only giving 1 star as it won't let me select less. I had a policy with provident and due to switching jobs (pay dates) I knew I was going to miss a payment as I received my new pay packet a few days after he payment was due to go out. Called provident as soon as I got paid, advised them of this and tried to make a payment. A college had advised me my payment was due to represent in a week and that if she took my payment today I would be charged twice. A week later, my policy was cancelled. After further review through raising a complaint they acknowledged they had advised me wrong as it was cancelled wrongly. They also aaid because they've sent two letters (disregarding when they were sent) which I didn't receive as I have my mum who always gives me my mail. I AM ABSOLUTLEY LIVID. I now have to tick that cancellation box in the future which raises my premiums by over £15,000!!!!!!!! I need to be able to drive. I'm 19, 17 at the time when with provident and they have screwed my insurance over for life. It's stressed me out so much it has contributed to my depression as in the last 8 months I have had my own personal issues to deal with. I phoned provident and explained for their mistake why am resulting in dealing with the consequences. I begged them to help me and asked if they even gave a toss about their customers. All they advised was " we have done what we are supposed to do according to guidelines". So as long as the follow all rules, they can fuck over as many people as they want. Absolutely appalling customer service, company, everything. And if they reply to this with "I'm very sorry to hear you feel this way. Please can you email [email protected] with your preferred time of contact and a number for yourself and I will arrange for a member of our claims team to call you to discuss further. The amount of complaints you have received about cancelled insurance. Surely all these customers can't be wrong when you have received so many. I just want to say that SAM provided an Excellent Customer Service He was well spoken, kind and easy to understand. Helped with my issue in no time. I enjoy speaking to him his English is amazing. Never use again

Chose Provident as it was cheaper than Swinton who I was with originally. I now know that was a big mistake. I've rung Provident twice now about changes I'd like to make to my policy. I couldn't make any of them for some ridiculous reason or another. The only way forward is to pay the £55 cancellation fee and go back to Swinton who are always professional and helpful. Rip of fees

Got my car insured with PI with 9 years no claims on my car, had a small crash in my van so they put my insurance up by £90 on my car policy still having 9 years no claim. I wanted to cancel my policy They charge me £78 for just over 14 days cover, £55 cancelation and £59 cancelation for break down cover... why is my break down cover canceled when i have paid it in full for the year....... They are rude and cannot change an adress over the phone

Called them to change my adress, after all the details, they wanted to sell me break down cover, I told them I will get back to them regarding the break down cover, After a month still got charged for my previouss adress! Ring them again and again and was told I will get a call back, after days of frustiation called them again and told me they going to isue me a refund, The next day Margen called me and sayd I will be not isue with a refund anymore, Just better to look somwhere else they are cowboys Reviewed on: 22nd May 2018
