Loyal customer -no claims-but 50% Renewal increase!? Have been with RIAS for many years, but this year the renewal requested was 50% more! Found alternative 5star cover for same as last year! Reviewed on: 29th January 2025

Review of the RIAS, Home Insurance:

Toilet not flushing.

I tried to report the problem by phone in September 2021, as I had taken our plumbing insurance earlier in the year. After waiting on hold for 20 minutes, I decided to report it via email. Someone rang me from RIAS the next day, but I missed the call. He said that he wanted to 'talks to me about it' I rang several times about it and each time was on hold for an average of half an hour. This went on throughout September, October, November. I didn't always manage to speak to anyone, as sometimes I couldn't cope with the repetition of Mozart 40 on a loop!! I sent several emails during this time, with little or no response, apart from an email saying that I was not covered for the repair. Finally, at the beginning of December, I rang a number which was answered straight away and a plumber was sent within 24 hours!! i had explained during my call that the cistern was behind a panel and was told that this would not be an issue. When the plumber arrived, he apologised and explained that the panel could not be removed as not covered by insurance!! I immediately rang RIAS and was told that it was covered and was out on hold. 40 minutes later I was told that it wasn't. I had to find someone to come and remove/replace panel. eventually, the plumber came back and did an excellent job within 2 days. I have now received a letter from AXA insurance saying that they are sorry to hear my complaint bout the plumbing job!! I have had to send an email explaining that my complaint was not about the plumber but about RIAS. I have also telephoned the plumber direct saying the same thing. I am 75 years of age and this whole thing has been very stressful for me. Apologies for the long rant. RIAS have also kindly renewed my policy!!! Reviewed on: 7th January 2022

Funny how all reviews are about how great and easy it was to hand over the money and take out the policy,I can promise you when you need Rias to give you any money back to fix your problem,that is a different matter!!! Company needs investigation Reviewed on: 27th December 2024

You take out what you think it the best Home insurance only to be told quite happily by Darren who loves his job in claims storm damage (90mph winds) isn't covered for fences, trees, hedges etc. Been with them for home and cars for a few years but won't be renewing. Rias insurance are uninsurable

Home emergency cover what a joke just do not answer phone cuts off and tells you to call back. This company is literally uninsurable!! Reviewed on: 18th December 2022

Complete rip off company

We have had our buildings and contents insurance with Rias for 5 years. We moved out of our property at the end of October into a relatives house so didn't need to take the insurance with us. They charged us a £60 exit fee even though our Direct Debit for November was taken in the sum of £20, which would cover us for a month we aren't even living at the property. Appalling service

My policy expired and I did not renew they now claim I owe them £48 - unable to find any way of paying this cant via web site and no-one answers the phone and yet they are threatening to foward my details to a debt recovery service Reviewed on: 5th October 2022

Frustrating claim experience

I have this week made a claim against my home insurance and home protection insurance – dealing with both claims has been incredibly frustrating and time consuming Every time I call the claims lines, I am waiting 30-60 minutes before I can speak to a claim handler – there is a hold message that I’ve heard so many times from other organisations – that you are receiving a high volume of calls – this is just a default message for any time of the day and seems to be there (along with the ling wait times) just to discourage people from calling Why do you feel you can treat your loyal customers like this any time they need to call the claims line? It shows utter contempt and a lack of courtesy that you seem to have made no attempt to address this issue – which I think is just a lack of claim handlers? I have also, this morning, called Evolution who manage your claims and I was holding for them for 50+ minutes! Initially I made the claim on line and received an email response but when I called to follow up yesterday, there was no record of my online claim – then the claims line (Ageas) claimed that I had no building insurance, only Contents – which was incorrect but made the whole experience more stressful than it should have been soon after experiencing the ceiling in my kitchen coming down Absolutely farcical behaviour and lack of service from a well-established insurance company Please sort this out or I’m afraid you’ll be losing customers when they are unfortunate enough to have to claim Reviewed on: 9th August 2022

There website doesn't work and you'll have to wait on the phone for 45 minutes just to pay a bill
