collected car for glass repair after attempted theft - sold it for profit with its entire content, did not communicate that this had happened and pretended car was being repaired. Not settled the claim after 4 months to the incident. should have FCA licence removed and be investigated Reviewed on: 31st October 2023

Terrible company stay away

Stay away from this insurance company. So this isn’t actually about me but my boyfriend, he has a black box insurance policy with acorn, which was originally agreed at £322 a month with an allowance of 500 miles. We have been on holiday for the past week meaning the car has not been driven as it was left with the airport. (He had put his miles to 0 when we left and when we Returned it was the same) but this company told him he had been making 2 trips a day? At 4 miles each when we were IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY and the week prior he had been getting a lift for work everyday from his co worker as it’s more convenient, due to the mileage cap. They had charged an extra £85 the month prior and a random £45 the month of April !!!!!! When called they couldn’t give a valid explanation as to why either. Anyway In 2 weeks of this month the car has not been driven and the other 2 definitely has not drove the full 500 miles allowed on the policy yet they are charging £65 on top of the £322!!!! Again when called the first time, regarding the email letting him know of the extra charge, they explained they were in contact with somebody to get the extra balance taken off the £322 and they would call back. They never did and the balance was never taken off. Absolutely appalling and I’m not sure how they keep getting away with doing this to people. Random charges? With no valid explanation? His bill has now gone up £12 a month again WITH NO EXPLANATION other than they are “authorised by the financial conduct agency” so disgusting and he is not the only one this is happening too with this company by the looks of things either!!!! Worst place ever!!!

This is the worst place I have ever known!!! We had an accident that wasn't our fault and have had to deal with it ourselfs even no we pay £190 a month my car was rote off acorn would only give me a car for 7 days I also had to arrange this as they where incomptant to do there self's after the seven days we where left without a car for 4 weeks leaving my partner to walk the kids on a 30 minute walk to and back from school bearing in mind she was 8 months pregnant! Anyway they finally paid out for my car that was written off. I then paid for another car phoned acorn that told me I had to go to one of there other places called motorcade so I did then they told me they haven't got my details and told me to go back to acorn so I did so acorn told me yet again to go to motorcade again lol 3 days this took me oh the day I finaly sorted this my partner gave birth to our baby 2 and a half weeks early due to the walking,,,, anyone thinking of going with acorn/haven I beg you to think twise just think of the long run if anything happens oh by the way if acorn want to no who wrote this hears my policy number HAVPCM3OOO3894 and phone number is 07501796259 THAT'S IF YOU CAN FIND ME LOL Reviewed on: 23rd May 2023

Do not use!!!!!!! Terrible company to deal with, my first experience with commercial insurance and let down greatly by Acorn. I used a comparison site and did not realise that I could not use my ncb on the van. After 10 days of calling several times and providing various proof of ncb only to be told each time “no that’s not quite the right format” I eventually got a member of there team that said “no sorry you can’t do that! And now it’s to late to cancel your policy without paying £200 for the privilege- now there complaints department after 7 weeks say as a gesture of goodwill you can cancel for £100!!! £421 added to my annual premium- please go elsewhere where they don’t rob you when you are trying to start a business Reviewed on: 17th May 2023

Scammer and thief

Useless company mostly of them are scammer and lier I had car accident nearly 5month ago non fault they give me wrong valuation for my car.. I will not recommend to any one they are scammer... Doggie insurance company

Any where is see Acorn Insurance , please run. I have home insurance with them, they have collected a year’s cost in 10 months however, to cancel within the last month, they are requesting for £50 penalties and I am to ignore the insurance with them and get another insurance, I will still pay £50 or £21.50 to be covered. If you have collected a whole year worth of the insurance in 10 months, then it should not matter to you when I cancel to get another insurer because you have collected your money Reviewed on: 22nd February 2023

After sending all no claims bonus off numerous times they cancelled the policy as it was asnt showing 4 corners!! they have had a hefty deposit already and have charged me another for another policy , i'm legally going to look into how this works as it' seem a easy scam plus reading reviews seems they like a scam Reviewed on: 28th November 2022

illegal dismissal of disabled staff

Illegally dismissed from this company. Illegally dismissed from this company. Acorn is trying to silence disabled voices Hr managers claudine Hambleton and making lately are abelist towards autistic staff members. Using abelsit mangers thst fail to see a disabled staff members point of view Abslist mangers chenade curnow had basically sprung meeting on a vulnerable employee when they were poorly and often ignoring requests for help. Putting my request down as saying oh we've been through this before is abelsit. Mollie o dwyer dismissed my needs for help by ssayinf oh we have gone through this with you before and has been abelist into how process works. Like oh yeah some customer swap name around. I pointed out that I wasn't aware of this and as an autistic staff member I take information literally so when I read a name it's first name and surname like we were taught in schools Mangers have also used a 3rd party from India taking the uk administration team jobs. Company has lied as the Indian worker were making many errors that cause problem for customers I was also been penalised for asking customers to resend in clear formated document in pdf as I am blind in one eye. I got penalised for eburing the information is clear. Also If people want to know a insider secret the validation team don't do through checks or leave proper notes on your file. They also don't get told off for not following process. Yet when a disabled staff ember make an error were punished. Do not use this company! Acorn Insurance take your money and when they owe you refunds they refuse to pay it just because they want the money, they do not even keep to their terms and conditions that are set when you read them. They seem to be a law into themselves because due to not giving my partner the refund they owe him it has now resulted in my family struggling to pay for food, rent and the bills, and I have a newborn and a 3 year old to feed which I cannot do. This company just takes your money and fills your life with more problems so just on the safe side do not go with these people they aren’t a trusted company what so ever. Avoid

Please don't use these insurers. Yes they're cheap but they're cheap for a reason. They use the name Haven/Acorn After another vehicle hitting me on a roundabout I contacted Haven to claim. The first call to Haven tool about 1 and a half hours to get through. Haven asked for photos of the small amount of damage to the door panel and we'd heard nothing back after a week chased them (another 2 hour long queue) when they immediately wrote the car off. Despite having no formal assessment to go by. Had to chase Haven every step of the process with the average queue to get through to someone being two hours. After two weeks they decided we were not eligible for a courtesy/hire car because the terms and conditions stated we were not covered for this if an accident took place on a roundabout or dual carriageway. Another week passes and we are suddenly eligible for 7 days car hire through their selected hire company and they advised they be in touch. AGAIN nothing happened and it turns out they're company had no cars. Eventually the car is collected, the man who collected the car warned me how rubbish Haven were and told me to expect a long wait. A week after collection I called to see if there was any progress and Haven stated that they didn't know they collected the car as someone forgot to mark it as collected so this would delay the claim. Another week passes and Haven send me their offer and ask for my bank details. Having not received anything in my bank after a week I chase again (again bare in mind each queue to get through to someone is usually around 2 hours) the agent advises they've sent a check as somebody didn't read the email. The cheque arrives 5 days later and I deposit this in the bank only to be contacted the next day to advise the cheque had bounced. A few days later they did eventually pay but the whole process from start to finish has been absolute hell. There has been no support or assistance from Haven and progress only seems to have happened when we've called to chase. The process took several months for what should have been a straight forward claim. If Haven hadn't made so many incompetent mistakes the claim would've likely taken a week Reviewed on: 8th May 2022
