Any means not pay

1
I cannot recommend this company based on my own experience, when I needed them most they basically called me a liar (without actually saying it) and said they couldn't pay based on we couldn't prove when the illness started, even though it was on my doctors record. Avoid these charlatan's. Reviewed on: 4th April 2022

Sneaky and dishonest

1
I have had numerous surgeries from 2010 so felt I would like to cover me and my husband going forward as we got older. I have only had call to phone in two years (and £3000) and have been dismissed by automaton customer service reps both times, who turn a genuine query or request for mere advice, into an interrogation about how long you have experienced symptoms, with the sole purpose to stitch you up by inferring everything is before you were insured, so you're not covered. As an extreme example I asked the representative if I came to them with a brain tumour, would me having a headache when I was seven count as a pre-existing condition, and, to her robotic credit, she said it would depend on my policy. Avoid. Reviewed on: 29th March 2022

Terrible Service. Waste of Money

1
Terrible service. You pay for health insurance make a claim and they just ignore you. Health insurance is supposed to make things quicker and easier to get medical care. Not with Aviva. Its just an exceptionally stressful experience. Reviewed on: 28th February 2022

Not worth the paper

The claims authorisation process is very long and drawn out. They will try their hardest to make claiming difficult for genuine and fully covered incidents. We have cancelled and concluded that self funding medical insurance is the way forward. Reviewed on: 10th February 2022

Terrible Service. Should be illegal

Avoid. Just awful.

Was told my procedure was authorised. Took my full years premium.£3K Then told me I shouldn't have been told it was authorised. Silly mistake by the claims advisor. Sorry. Won't honour it even though they agree it's recorded on the call. I've dealt with many health insurance companies. Aviva health is by far the worst. Other reviewers agree. But Aviva make sure that their Trustpilot reviews appear on any websearch because those are artificially high. Reviewed on: 19th January 2022

Hopeless Service

I joined about 5 months ago. Recently I tried to get a doctors appointment via the AvivaGP App. It took many days to secure an appointment. When I queried this I was told that they don’t have enough doctors to meet customer demand so were busily recruiting. I eventually secured an appointment for the following week but the doctor didn’t turn up for the appointment (which was via the app). I complained and was told that the doctor had to deal with an unexpected personal issue and the support team hadn’t got round to rearranging the appointment. Aviva customer service staff said this was a one-off and rearranged another appointment for me. For the new appointment I was given a 30 minute time period and told that a doctor would phone me during that period. I made sure and had a strong signal and waited for the phone call at the agreed time. 40 minutes later the doctor never called. From my experience in am not convinced that Aviva have any doctors supporting their service. I have no confidence in them providing any level of service but they are efficient at taking your money every month Reviewed on: 5th January 2022

A complete waste of money

Went through all the hoops to be told that Avivs will not pay for radiotherapy on my hand. I went to an Aviva approved consultant who referred me to another consultant for treatment. Aviva will not pay so am paying for it myself. They are not even paying for the initial consultant action as this is within my excess and the radiotherapy consultation was free. All they effectively did was complicate matters and cause delay. I absolutely cannot recommend this company to anybody, especially somebody in need as they will only cause delays through their protocols Reviewed on: 7th December 2021

Total con

1
Honestly the biggest con. Our policy is worth 19k a year, they refuse treatment, try and force you to do everything via zoom, you don’t get to choose your dr, they force you through triages so they put people off accessing care, they only allow you to use some of the least qualified and least exspensive physios etc it’s just a total sham. I’m so annoyed we ever moved from AXA. I would have spent far less just paying for everything directly myself. Total con. Reviewed on: 30th November 2021

Awful

Well, I have bought a health insurance FMU in which I agreed at the beginning of the policy to aviva request my full medical records and send a copy to me (which they never did) they sent me my underwriting exclusions just according to what I declared after several weeks without even checking my medical records, 5 months later I did a claim for a gastroenterologist and after almost 4 weeks they declined my claim because I had last year a pain in my rips and left side of my abdomen, whilst my current claim was about completely different symptoms and the only "similarity" was a pain in the upper abdomen and center no even in the same area as my left side pain last year they refused to cover claiming that is the same condition when I didn't even get any diagnosed from the GP by the NHS last year when I had that rib pain, so basically if you ever had even a pill for your stomach in your records it doesn't matter what your symptoms are when you do the claim they'll find a way not to cover, so in that case if I had pancreatitis same area of pain in the abdomen they won't cover because I had a rib pain last year for which I didn't get treatment or diagnosed but yes for them obviously is linked. Why do they offer a FMU if they won't check the medical records and state from the beginning what they are not covering instead they choose to make me waste my time and be as neglected or worst than the NHS with waiting times and resources. I cancelled my policy obviously and I wouldn't recommend aviva to anyone at all. Try with another insurance and make sure they do check your medical records from the beginning.
