A bank that cares for my business' needs

First business need: Don't waste my time. Barclays does this very well, I never have to wait on hold for someone to answer the phone. They're properly staffed when compared to other banks. Second business need: Don't overcomplicate things. Barclays is easy to work with. The website, the app, the processes. All is very intuitive and easy to use and follow. Third business need: Don't rip me off. Barclays is competitive in their account fees and charges. It's transparent, simple and easy to understand. I love to be able to forecast my bank charges, and hit my forecast to the pence. Fourth business need: Understand my business needs This is it. Barclays knows what I want, and how to give it to me. Need to take payments on a website? They'll put you through the right team. Need to open a currency account? Do it over the phone. Need some factoring arrangements? Anything really, you can do without walking to the bank. There are always some opportunities for improvement, but having been a customer of Natwest and Lloyds, I wouldn't ever consider leaving Barclays. Reviewed on: 29th November 2018

Really bad customer service

First time using Businesses banking so nothing to compare the service with, however if you use foreign call centres to manage your customer service then expect poor customer reviews . I’ve spent hours on the phone about every aspect of business banking and this has impacted on my business. The language barrier and incorrect advice has meant that suppliers haven’t been paid, debit cards never received and card payments taken when told they had not been taken etc etc Would never recommend Barclays Reviewed on: 20th November 2018

Can I get a minius rating? Service has been abysmal from the start!

Barclays has offered constantly poor service since opening my business account in July. Issue 1) I was initially told my account would be open within 10 days, on the 17th day I had to spend over 3 hours calling different Barclay's departments to try and find my account details for a payment that was due. Issue 2) Each time I call “business banking” the service is extremely poor, and they have no knowledge of the business products on offer. I have spent weeks trying to set up my data services each time I call the banking advisor has no knowledge of this service and places me on hold for 15+ minutes. I need this service and it seems you are incapable of setting this up, hence deciding to move banks. Issue 3) I thought as a business I would be provided with a business account manager, no one has been offered. Issue 4) In my local Merthyr Tydfil Branch where you have replaced the tellers with Ipads, all the customers now queue at the business banking desk, meaning each time I go in there is a substantial queue of non-business customers at the desk. Whoever decides the customer policy needs sacked.

I complained to the Ombudsman. Waste of time, just told me to sort it out with the bank. Rang many times, wrote, e-mailed, threatened to sue. They replied with some silly jargon that did not make sense. Did not address my issues at all. I think I solved the problem myself by telling them I no longer had a mobile phone. ALL ONLINE TRANSACTIONS OVER A CERTAIN AMOUNT AUTOMATICALLY ARE REFERRED TO THE MOBILE FOR CONFIRMATION. Now they go do go through. Also changed my statements back from paperless. 15 years of business and never again

Been with Barclays with one business with a TO of 5m a year and wanting to bring my new business over to them. Trying to open an account has been the headache from hell. Opening the account took weeks to do. No reader received and still waiting for one so i can do things online. 9th April I applied for the account!!!! I now have a GBP account, so wanting to open a Dollar account, but can't be done over the phone. Have to wait for the welcome pack I have never received. Beyond a joke. I have suppliers wanting me to pay bills, I have dollars waiting to come into my account, but can't. Mortgage with them too - seriously thinking about moving everything away from them. Rubbish

Following unexpected charges on my business account, by the way, this isn't happening the first time, finally got some time to make a phone call and log a complaint. You just cannot log an official complaint with over the phone, you'll be on hold listening to music forever, then passed from one to another operator everyone telling you 'Oh is not me, I'll pass you through to the relevant person', they never do. Bad customer service

Went into my local branch to pay in money for my son, since I didn't have paying in book thought bank statement would be sufficient, how wrong was I. The lady on the counter spent the whole time giving me alternative methods of paying in money that basically didn't involve her doing her job e.g me paying it into my account which is with another bank and transferring it across, you name it she suggested it. After me pointing out I was standing opposite her ready to pay money in she did it. Surely with banks closing on high street every day Barclays staff would appreciate their custom. Hopeless telephone support

Good service when things are OK. The telephone business dsupport is hopeless. The people do not understand English. They cannot help because they are not trained to do their job. All they do is to transfer you to someone equally incompetent. Good banking service when things are working. Just pray that you never need help. You won't get it. Reviewed on: 9th March 2018

The bank from hell. Want to buy things online? Expect 50% of them to be rejected by Barclays. Try running a business with them, it is impossible, they will not process the payments to suppliers. HATE THEM 100% AVOID THIS COMPANY. Reviewed on: 11th February 2018
