Absolute Ripoff Absolute ripoff, cancelled a policy and it cost 25% of the whole years premium. Wouldn't use Brightside ever again, not even if they were the cheapest... Read more Reviewed on: 23rd June 2023

Daylight robbery 1st month!!!

After paying a £300 pound deposit. Sending all my documents apart from proof of address. I did send them a letter from hmrc but apparently this isn't good enough. Neither is the address on my photo card. They cancel my policy without warning. When I called to fix this they said the policy has been cancelled and I'm due them a further £15.70. Or I can start a new policy and pay another deposit!!! Joke of a company. Do not go near them!!! Reviewed on: 5th August 2016

Rip off merchants

Can't believe this company is legally allowed to trade. some strange relief in finding others had te same trouble with them. supplied details but policy cancel and admin fee demanded. still came back as cheapest option but now being charged an addtional £458 pounds because the haven't received the no claims information FROM THEMSELVES. An insult using the word customer service when it comes to the word and ripping off while the financial authority exist?

Demands of papers, you send and then still not received, you then send again. Then days later your insurance has been cancelled but letter arrives late with no explanation and then your hit with a bill for cancelling the insurance cover after driving without insurance cover. After that car insurance nightmare begins dealing with Brightside and the most ridiculous is when am told your insurance has been active since and not cancelled! Need I continue it might take 2 months as it has taken me 2 months to sort there mess, which is still not sorted as apparently am now in debt and debt collectors will be camping outside my door to collect the loot for Brightside! Went on Money Supermarket and this firm Brightside Car Insurance came up as cheap, big mistake. I cancelled within the cooling off period before my policy even started after reading bad reviews too and being asked daily for docs and ID proof, which I sent and sent and sent and they said I did not send it, scammers and they have issued a cancellation closure on me and this is affecting me big time. STRESS STRESS AND MORE STRESS DO NOT USE THIS FIRM.aNYONE WHO HAS HAD ANY BAD EXPERIENCES GO TO BBC MONEY PROGRAMME, EMAIL THEM THEY ARE BRILLIANT AT EXPOSING FIRMS LIKE THIS Reviewed on: 29th July 2016

I had my insurance for four days and then I bought a new car. Asked for quote and was told I would be charged 25 for changing vehicle even though I was In the 14 day cooling off period. And if I was to leave it would also be 25. So I get the quote. It has more than doubled. I ask for a monthly figure and am told I would not be given the exact figure until I have taken the insurance out and the actual insurer notify me of cost as they are only the broker. So I chose to cancel....... A week later I'm still getting emails and texts asking for document. I had to ring again to get taken off their list. Con artists!

See many others have had the same con. Sent driving.licence info 4 times to be told cant read. Told to send docs by 11/07 to be informed today they cancelled my insurance. Please steer clear. Ombudsman contacted. Reviewed on: 29th June 2016

AVOID THIS COMPANY

TOOK OUT CAR INSURANCE THEN HAD A PHONE CALL FROM THEM ASKING IF I WISHED TO ADD LEGAL PROTECTION FOR £27.99 WHICH I DID. A FEW DAYS LATER I WAS HORRIFIED TO DISCOVER THEY HAD TAKEN £52.99. WHEN I RANG TMEM THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A £25 CHARGE TO ADD THIS PRODUCT, NEEDLESS TO SAY I COMPLAINED STRONGLY AND TODAY TWO WEEKS AND SEVERAL PHONE CALLS LATER I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE £25 HAS BEEN REFUNDED I WILL NOT BE USING THEM NEXT YEAR AND THAT'S A FACT. Brightside AVOID!!!

Bought car insurance from them but they claimed not to have received one piece of information about the additional driver despite it being loaded on their website. Also they ask for more information than I have ever had to supply to any insurance company and its almost like it is designed to trip up as many consumers as possible. They cancelled the policy at a cost of £77. I offered to send them the info again but they said they could not accept and I would have to take out a new policy. I am now wondering if this is just their ruse to get money out of people without actually supplying a product. I will be complaining to the FCA and the Financial services ombudsman about how they treat customers. Reviewed on: 12th May 2016
