Gave me hope of rebuilding credit when decline elsewhere

Having been decline elsewhere i was surprised and happy to be accepted by Capital One as it meant I had a chance to rebuild my credit history. Having started off with a low limit, this has been increased. This has been a lifesaver on a few occasions and without it would have been a nightmare. It's easy for me to check my balance and pay online, i get email notifications when a statement is due, and it's contactless so really easy to use. So glad i managed to get a card with them as it's build my score by gradually using it and paying it off but also able to buy big ticket items such as holidays and paid big chunks off monthly. I'm glad they had faith in me when other lenders didn't and i was able to prove I'm trustworth with credit and my past was just a blip. Reviewed on: 3rd April 2017

Great until things go wrong...

The company itself are fine and dandy when things are good. Contact is frequently returned when needed and I relieved when calls are answered from within the UK. However, when I lost my job and fell behind on payments they suddenly became very inflexible. I had to call repeatedly and then it would take quite some time for someone to respond, if at all. Contact was more of the feeling that it was made purely as it was obligatory rather than a wish to help. No offers were made to lower the APR or suggest a plan in my time of need. That said, once things were back on track they mysteriously reverted to their old helpful selves! Reviewed on: 24th December 2016

Reminders are handu

Back in the day, credit cards were run on a bill received that soon got lost under a pile of other papers and you could easily forget to pay. Moving onto the present day, and Capital One send email reminders as well as text reminders, which really do help you to keep on top of things and not miss payments. I'm sure others may do this as well, but my experience is purely with Capital One. Online payments are made easy as well. Reviewed on: 24th December 2016
