a "people" organisation

In these days of "endless telephone answering option systems, remote call centres and live chat" online offers that aren't online when you need them, it's hugely refreshing to be able to get through to a real human being really quickly at the Ecology Building Society to deal with one's saving business. Ethical Principles

I have saved with the Ecology Building Society for a number of years and have always received great customer care; helpful, polite and friendly. I save with EBS because of its ethical stance on environmental matters e.g. energy efficient offices, support for sustainable living, assessing environmental impacts etc. Reviewed on: 12th March 2021

Transparency in their use of my savings and faultless customer service

I have saved with Ecology Building Society for 12 years, progressively increasing the volume of savings I have with them. Many of the residential projects they fund (Passivhaus and other high energy performance homes) and truly inspiring. It's a pleasure to know that my savings are contributing directly to mitigating climate change. Added to which, their customer service has been faultless. Reviewed on: 12th March 2021

Friendly, understanding and efficient.

My wife and I have been with the Ecology BS for many years, not so much for making money but more for their ethical stance. When she died at the end of 2020 I was dreading closing her bank accounts and savings plans and had a lot of trouble with most of them except the Ecology B S. They were most understanding and I felt I could rely on their professionalism. My wife's ISA will be closed and I will be opening a new ISA in April. The Ecology Building Society is great, thank you. Friendly, sustainable and ethical savings

They treat us well and have all the rightsocial and environmental policies

I’ve been with the Ecology B/S since shortly after it started. I’ve taken Ethical Consumer from the 1st issue until today. Over 25 years ago, I participated in setting up SCE an independent stake-holder Co-operative in Northampton. It was, and is, dedicated (A) to curating wildlife diversity; (B) to producing local organic foodstuffs e.g. from orchards and beekeeping, and (C) to promoting satisfactions in the local community through involving them in both A and B. About 20 years ago SCE introduced its policy (and actions) to recycle, to reduce our use of CO2 fuels, reward workers and volunteers who cycle or walk to our sites. SCE has, since its inception, banked with Ecology. All that was just to demonstrate that I and SCE are prejudiced in favour of The Ecology B/S. That prejudice would have counted for little had they not, throughout the decades, offered excellent, polite and helpful service to us. So, given all that, why should prize-givers even consider rewarding other societies? Especially since many give rotten service (and are getting worse) and/or put investor’s money into the arms-trade, fossil fuels, worker exploitation and many other nefarious directions.
