Do not trust their processing time/turnaround on their website, as this is delusional. Their underwriters have very little common sense, the list of documents they ask compared to other lenders is just simply ridiculous to say the least, but the worst part is they seems to ask one proof at at time, causing massive delay to the mortgage process. If you need a quick mortgage application, I would avoid this bank like a plague

In the middle of a global pandemic Metro wrote to us giving an ultimatum to either sell, refinance or they would call in LPA receivers and repossess our commercial property. We had never missed a mortgage payment and we we’re not in arrears. Like many not only we’re we dealing with Covid, but now we had to worry about losing our pension and our business. At great cost and enormous stress we managed to refinance, how this company has the audacity to be up for any banking awards is beyond a joke - Bit don’t just take my word read their 2 star rating on Trust Pilot-

Customers are able to contact the advisor directly and they respond quickly. The rates are competetive. I have used Metro Bank 5 times for my mortgages and would recommend them highly. A high street bank who still gives a personal ans efficient service. That is their uniqur trademark!

Good customer service

I have a mortgage with metro bank. I've always been able to get in touch with the mortgage team on the phone easily, and they send timely and useful reminders by post, without being spammy.

Awful services for businesses. Incompetents and couldn't care less. I've waited for almost 2 months for them to get approved for BBL and test their product. In the first day, it failed. In the second day, I was approved and told the money would be in my account in 24 hours. On the 3rd day, they said they couldn't give me the money without an explanation. It took me 3 days to get in touch with someone to tell me. that they don't know why it was denied and I should send a letter in the post! I am switching now to a real bank, these (starting with the branch managers) are completely useless and incompetent puppets.

I have a 5 year fixed rate buy-to-let mortgage at 3.59% with Metro Bank which expires in August this year. My tenants who have been at the property for 4 years asked if they could pay £600 less per month because they have both lost work since outbreak of Covid-19. I agreed to this because I'm listening to the government's message that it is incumbent on all of us to support our fellow citizens during this crisis. I asked Metro Bank if I could leave my mortgage 4 months early to move to a mortgage rate which is half the rate I'm currently paying and would allow me to continue to provide a roof over my tenants heads. Metro Bank told me I would have to pay £2,307.55 in early redemption charges. I asked if this could be waived and they refused. I am very, very disappointed. Metro Banks's response is definitely not in the spirit of flexibility and support which the government has called upon us to demonstrate. I sent an email to the Metro Bank Chief Executive Daniel Frumkin and the reply was definitely not from him. Shame on Metro Bank that they would prefer to continue to make money from me at a higher interest rate at the expense of keeping a roof over the heads of vulnerable tenants.
