Review of the Platform, Morgtages:

Absolutely appalling customer service.

Terrible experience - would not recommend using

1
Would not port my current morgage (low rate) to my new property - reason given: on busy road. Had no other option but to morgage via another lender - no problems with road issue with numerous other lenders. Cost to leave £3,500 also charged a further £500 in fees to decline my application to port. Avoid if you possibly can. Reviewed on: 2nd January 2024

I'm hold been 1 hour so far to discuss my current mortgage deal

1
This is not customer service, with the cost of interest on mortgages so high of course customers need help from their mortgage providers, my deal is due to end and I need to speak about changing to another and the letters I have received in very different formats are conflicting with the info therefore I need to speak to someone at the company to assist. Disgusting Company with NO Customer Care

1
Absolutely disgraceful company. You can only contact them by phone which means being in a queue for ages only to be told it is the wrong department (despite calling the number they provided!). Even when you speak to someone they are useless and can do nothing to help, they make promises that they don’t see through and nothing changes. You can never speak to someone senior re your issue and when making a complaint it is a complete “fob-off”. This is by far the worst mortgage provider ever, so don’t believe the good reviews as they are either fake or from extremely new people who have no concept of what it is like after you are signed up. Feels like a bank before the internet was invented. When it comes to digitisation or automation there isn’t any. You can only contact them via the phone for most things, after waiting a good few hours or days (the voice message saying they’re experiencing extremely high call volumes and so wait times are longer than usual has been in place for at least 2 years, so I’m inclined to think it’s just the norm now). Recently you can contact them via email (download a long form to fill out, and then email it back) but only for a very small selection of basic changes that anywhere else you’d be able to do online in seconds. When you do manage to speak to them about any changes it’s painful. It feels like multiple departments and processes that barely communicate with each other and each take days to get their part of the process complete. When they set up our new mortgage it was a fairly standard timeline as new customers, but everything since has been horrendous. Our remortgage process when we moved house was abysmal and took them months. Hours on the phone chasing made little difference and it wasn’t until we raised a formal complaint did they start being helpful. Letters they send can arrive weeks after the date they are printed suggesting they just sit waiting to be posted. Even now when we’ve moved to a new lender, the refund of our final direct debit is going to take 4 weeks because instead of being able to send it straight back they need to process it (which took 22 days), print a cheque out, and post it to our bank, who then need to clear it. If the rate is good and you just need a mortgage that you won’t ever change or move then ok, but I’d say avoid, as any good rate or deal isn’t worth the stress that will occur when you need them to do anything. Thankfully our fixed rate period has ended and we’ve escaped to a new lender Reviewed on: 28th September 2023

Great unless you need something

1
Unbelievable in this day and age, and when part of such a huge business as the CO-OP, that a company is able to continue running in this way. Hold times longer than a working day, absolutely woeful internal communication, no way on god's green earth to contact them digitally - may as well use carrier pigeons, it will be quicker. As if moving house/paying your mortgage in the current climate isn't stressful enough we have to put up with this joke of a company. AVOID AT ALL COSTS EVEN IF THEIR RATE IS AMAZING. Never again will I do business with them, and probably steer clear of Co-Op's other arms as well. Reviewed on: 1st September 2023

Absolute shambles of a company

1
I was recommended through a broker for my remortgage, all is fine until you need to contact them. A simple step of porting my mortgage to a new property was made unbelievably complicated and stressful, the timescales they have are shocking! Following on from this my solicitor requested a redemption statement and the 10% deposit of funds for the exchange/completion. My solicitor has spent nearly 3 hours on hold over 3 phone calls just to get through. They have failed twice to send over these confirmations despite assurances they would be sent, we have had 2 failed exchange of contracts dates now and 2 failed completion dates due solely to Platform. This company is shambolic, inept and incompetent. Considering they are part of a large banking group COOP I would have been better using a back street lender. Get your act together Platform and send the documentation over so we can complete our house move Reviewed on: 8th August 2023

Waiting months for a mortgage

1
This company has made numerous false promises to my mortgage broker. Their communication has been awful. She has repeatedly been asking them if they have everything they need to be told yes only to wait weeks to find out after chasing them that they want more documents. They have been promising for weeks that an underwriter is due to look at my file. Still nothing. My mortgage broker has used all the channels she has to hold them to account but I'm still waiting....four months for an offer to be issued! As a result, I'm having to spend money on storage as I could not keep the buyer of my flat waiting any longer. Reviewed on: 28th July 2023

Where does my money go?

Feel like my money is vanishing into thin air! Does anybody even work for this company?! Utter shambles. Will not be re-mortgaging with them! Reviewed on: 18th July 2023

Abyssal support. Hour plus wait times on phone. No email facilities only phone, post or fax

1
Trying to get a redemption certificate is next to impossible. "Currently experiencing high call volumes" is the normal and you can expect waits of over an hour (I am currently 1 hour 14 mins waiting whilst writing this). I asked for a redemption certificate and was told it will take up to 5 working days to generate and then it is posted 1st class, which means you can expect 7-10 days added interest whilst you wait. Can't email it to you, but they can fax it - how antiquated is that? I had to contact them again as they hadn't generated the certificate and after a complaint they did it there and then for me. I finally got the certificate and paid the money owing, but 10 days later and no acknowledgement that it has been paid, no thanks for being a customer - diddly squat. Now back on the phone to try and find out if money has cleared and where my confirmation is. I can guarantee you, there would be no wait times if you were taking out a new mortgage with them. Staff are fine and helpful, but the company itself is the worse mortgage company I have ever had the displeasure of being with. Reviewed on: 11th July 2023

We applied for a redemption on the official form on the company website. They finished it a day early which potentially could have cost us £1000’s The nightmare began as it as ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTACT PLATFORM. We have wasted hours and hours on the phone often with two phones at a time waiting to get through. This us without doubt the worst company of any type I have ever had to deal with. Fortunately we no longer need to deal with them Reviewed on: 3rd July 2023
