Review of the Platform, Morgtages:

Frustrating Experience with Redemption at Platform

1
I had a highly disappointing experience with Platform during the redemption of my mortgage. After making a complete payment via CHAPS on January 30, 2024, to close out my mortgage, the lack of communication from Platform was astounding. Despite my proactive steps, including promptly mailing the necessary redemption documents, there was no acknowledgment of the payment, and shockingly, they continued to collect the monthly interest via direct debit. What followed was a series of frustrating attempts to resolve the issue. I reached out to customer service multiple times, only to be met with long wait times and disconnections, amounting to nearly three hours of wasted effort without any resolution. My complaint, formally lodged on February 15, 2024, has been dragging without progress, leading to further direct debits which I had to indemnify through the Direct Debit Guarantee due to their inaction. It's been over eight weeks since my initial complaint, and despite the time elapsed, Platform has neither rectified the error nor offered any form of compensation for the inconvenience and financial strain caused. Their handling of this matter reflects poorly on their customer service and account management systems. To anyone considering Platform for their mortgage needs, I would advise caution. The lack of effective communication and resolution capabilities significantly marred what should have been a straightforward process. I am now compelled to escalate this to the Financial Ombudsman Service to seek a resolution, a step I hoped would be unnecessary Reviewed on: 17th April 2024

Shocking customer service

1
We had a mortgage in principle and formally applied on the 29th November 2022. "Due to a backlog" they didn't process this until the 16th Jan. Then, they asked some questions (they already had all the relevant information, documentation and answers they needed) and stuck us back in rhe queue to be reviewed on the 26th January. Then, they did it again. A question which could've been resolved with a 30 second phone call was treated as another fire and forget email and then back in the queue until the 31st Jan. With hindsight I should never have hone anywhere near this company and certainly never will again. One more delay and they can stick their mortgage. Reviewed on: 27th January 2023

Application system flawed

1
Applied for a mortgage via a broker Nov 30th, wasn’t looked at until 16th Jan, more documents needed, sent same day - Platform say they won’t even look at or check these for 10 working days (30th)- if more docs reqd then another 10 working days Dreadful service, obviously taking on too much business and cannot cope, and still taking more on I wish I had known all this before we applied Reviewed on: 23rd January 2023

Utterly hopeless

1
If you are recommended Platform do not accept. Nothing is on line, They do not answer their calls and they don't even have an email address. Unfortunately I did not carry out due diligence prior to taking the mortgage out. If I could give them zero stars I would. Reviewed on: 16th January 2023

Bait, switch, and waste time - if your broker offers this, do not accept

1
Ever wondered why conveyancing takes so long? Here's a good insight - having discussed with a broker some mortgage options at the beginning of November, Platform offered the most appealing package and I was assured they were a good firm; with co-operative bank links they even sounded potentially more ethical. Weeks passed between the hurried application process and any news, only to be told they had a backlog. SIX WEEKS later they had managed to confuse my paying off a loan on the statements for 'secretly having another loan', reduced their offer (because of overall risk adjustment) then when told what they'd got wrong on the interpretation, said they were not accepting new business due to demand. SIX. WEEKS. Absolutely no accountability, no apology for the stress, just a huge delay and waste of time during which I could have gone with any number of other providers. Avoid at all costs, it could cost you the home you're buying. Reviewed on: 5th January 2023

Impossible to contact

1
I wish I had read these reviews before being convinced by my mortgage broker to go with Platform. Impossible to contact them as they do not have online communication availability (still using fax machines!!) Reviewed on: 3rd January 2023

Do Not Use Platform Mortgages

1
I have been waiting 7 weeks to get an agreement in principal to port my current mortgage and borrow a little more. I am an existing customer, no fault payment record etc. I am in danger of losing my sale and am now seriously considering selling and going into rented to avoid this, which will mean cancelling the purchase of a new build home I have already reserved. This company is part of the Cooperative, supposedly an organisation high on ethics. The truth is - they don't care at all about their customers or the stress that their woeful customer service places on people. My brother just remortgaged with his current lender - it took 2 days start to finish. If you are with Platform, leave. If you are not with Platform just keep walking. Reviewed on: 15th December 2022

Worst Ever Company

1
I have been with platform for the past 3 years, They are by far the worst company that I have ever had to deal with as a UK domestic tax payer. They actually pride themselves on their customer service. Impossible to contact, Very unhelpful and totally incompetent. I really cannot belive that they are allowed to do business at all. Contacting platform

Mortgage sorted out ok through financial advisor but now it's virtually impossible to contact them by phone. That's not even to mention that stupid tune you have to continually listen to. Reviewed on: 6th December 2022

They don't want to lend you money.

1
My partner and I earn £80k a year, and were going after a relatively cheap house of £225k, with a £200k mortgage. Because my partner is the director of their own company, Platform didn't seem to want to lend us any money, even though we've spend years and years paying rent to greedy landlords and never missed a payment. They seem to not want to help people who are self employed or run their own company. I'd suggest avoiding them of you are in a similar circumstances. Reviewed on: 29th November 2022
