Review of the Post Office, Credit Card:

Useless, unhelpful, inept and rude

1
Well, these cards are now provided by Bank of Ireland (another useless credit card company). I fully paid off my card, and then cancelled it. However, the operative I spoke with to cancel the card, didn't, and A YEAR LATER an automatic payment which I forgot about (now I take the blame for that) was taken off the card. I had moved house 3 times by this point (4 years later) so none of the letters came through to me. PO and BoI did nothing to help me, just wrote back saying they were every so sorry, and hope that I'm not upset by how it has worked out. BUT THEN they instantly sold this debt to another debt collection agency. Agressive greedy buggers, stay away from post office cc and from bank of ireland Reviewed on: 6th August 2020

The card fines you money for their software glitches and lack of instructions

1
I tried to use Post Office Credit Card from Bank of Ireland for their money transfer offer. If you type the wrong card number into the transfer box, the transfer is cancelled but they still charge you for the loan - £98 in my case. If their setting for how much money to take by direct debit fails, which it does on Windows XP / Firefox or Chrome, then they attempt to collect the full amount after month one. When the payment is refused, they fine you £12. There's no warning or communication - you can't tell it has happened. I discovered that there was zero balance on my card and thought "that's odd" and tried to find out why. Then the balance appears again with the £12 fine. When the balance re-appears, it has another £12 fine added for late payment. I managed to get that one reversed. Now , Bank of Ireland have just fined me £24.28 for "purchase interest" on a free balance transfer offer. You might ask how this reviewer has time to write a review but not to read the small print, but, believe me, I have tried. There's a lot of standard stuff on the back of the pdf statement that doesn't quite answer the questions, there is I think some online Fujitsu web software that doesn't always work, and there is the option of being phoned-back after a day or two. Summery: they make their money by fines. Avoid. Reviewed on: 16th May 2017

Fantastic service, easy to use.

I have had a credit card with the Post Office for almost 2 years. I love using the online login because I can check my balance at any time. It is easy to make payments with BACS on my bank account and the money clears very quickly. All statements are online - no paper - so great for the environment too. Would definitely recommend!! Balance Transfer Card

Very disappointing. Applied for and received balance transfer card with initial credit card limit in excess of £2500. HOWEVER , on receipt of the card my transfer limit was set at only £200 - no good to man nor beast! Reviewed on: 29th December 2016

Non notification of direct debit domancy

I too, after years of having a PO card, have been very badly stung by a slight of hand by PO and BoI meaning that instead of paying of the total as I though I have accrued three-figure outstanding balance. Four calls to them (and dealing with my own bank) has left me with no option to pay - and close my account. I couldn't do that on the phone - as they no longer take payments by phone. Their internal 'complaints' team are a fraud. Under no circumstances use this shabby outfit who have NO customer service and frankly show the worst side of banking. Avoid at all costs. Post Office Credit Card - Appalling Customer Service

A simple notification of address change. Wasted 30 minutes on the phone without any luck.. BB Reviewed on: 16th November 2016

Great product but rubbish customer service and technology

2
Opted for a new Post Office Credit Card after seeing a very long 0% deal (24 months) which was, and still is great. However, they 'lost' my first payment back to them paid online and they issued a default payment to my account. After 4 very long phone calls with conflicting advice, they 'found' the payment and issued a refund of it but were only unable to remove the default after 2 more long phone calls. The App that is available for management of the account is also very poor, and requires reinstalling every few weeks. Overall, the deal available for the credit card is a good one, but should something go wrong the customer service and software they provide for managing the account are very poor.; Reviewed on: 14th November 2016
