Crazy spike to car insurance for change in added driver

I had a car insurance with myself as named driver and my son (still learner then) with Hasting. I stupidly moved to PostOffice, because they offered a slightly better price (ca. £80 less). I wish I had not done so: when my son passed his driving licence, they asked in order to modify the policy the extortionate sum of 640£ – on top of what I had paid initially – and £20 extra for the admin work. A quick check online showed that Hastings would take me back, with my son as added driver, with a full licence, for ca. 600£. So I quit PostOffice, got (partially) reimbursed for the part of the year not used, and am happily back with Hastings. Do not go there - it is a disgrace. Read more Read less

Was advised funds would be with me on Monday. After an hour & and a half on calls over the last 3 days, it appears the sum may be returned to me next Monday - 6 working days to close an ISA and be in receipt of funds. I closed two other ISA's on Sunday and the funds were received on Monday. I spent an hour wasting my time today (50 minutes of it on hold). Avoid as all costs. Read more Read less

I opted for the well rated Post Office policy but forgot to advise them I'm on blood pressure tablets. The price was £130 for an annual policy. I'm on low dose tablets that were merely accepted by Aviva without charge but the Post Office just asked "how many tablets are you on" Nothing to do with what they were, the dosage etc Then said the quite had doubled. !! Crazy way to underwrite insurance cover. Thank God I could cancel still. Read more Read less

Great Insurance - Until You Actually Need It!!!!

I have used Post Office Travel Insurance quite a few times over the years, and I have never needed to make a claim, and therefore I have just taken their levels of cover and promises of great customer service at face value. However, during this holiday my wife suffered a significant leg injury and we need to make a claim both for our of pocket expenses and a personal injury claim against the hotel. I phoned to instigate the claim process, gave an overview of the injuries my wife had suffered, and was told it would be passed on to the relevant department who would be in contact. Two days later I had heard nothing (by phone or email) so I called again, to be told that their standard timescales for contact were 5 - 10 working days! I explained this was too long, given the need to ensure we obtained relevant evidence from the hotel (CCTV footage, etc.) however, this made no difference. They asked if I wanted to raise a complaint, I said I did and they assured me that a manager would phone me back within 24 hours; not had a phone call, but I have had an email saying they would look to respond to my complaint within 40 working days!! At the pace this company works at I may have my claim resolved within 5 years. Read more Read less

I have used this insurance company for years as I had never needed to make any claims so never had experienced anything bad with them until the ONE time I ended up hospitalised in Spain and they would not help. I had forgotten to take out the insurance before I left the UK so I purchased the insurance ONE day into my holiday, it wasn’t while over a week later when I was hospitalised that I needed to use it for the first time ever but they wouldn’t grant me the claim as I took out the insurance after I left the UK. Something I do not understand is if you are unable to use the insurance if bought when already on holiday, why does it even give you the option to be able to purchase in the first place once you have put in your dates?! When I spoke with an advisor she claimed it would have asked me if I’m already on holiday.. IT DOES NOT ASK YOU THIS. They have absolutely zero people skills and no compassion at all! I will NEVER be returning here as a customer, they will try everything and anything to dismiss your claim. Terrible terrible company!! Read more Read less

I applied online for an Online Saver issue 87 account, for which I received an email confirming my application. Two weeks later the account had still not been opened! When I rang their office, I was told that there was no trace of my application on their system, despite their earlier email! Further issues followed resulting in me making a formal complaint. Weeks later I received their response - which totally failed to address the main points of my complaint, and they concluded that my complaint should be Dismissed ....despite the fact that there was clearly a failing on their part! I have since contacted them again to challenge their decision. Read more Read less
