Never ever get post office car insurance

1
My dad had car accident which was not his fault. They said they can't repair the car as repair will cost more than value of car so, we opt for car money and its been 3 months since we put the claim and still has not been sorted. We were referred to total-loss team which was dealing with 3rd party insurer but we had to contact the insurance by ourselves to provide them with letter. It felt like we were doing more than their job. More than 2 weeks before we were said that 3rd party made a counter offer and we were waiting for money but when I chased them, they said 3rd party denied to release any fund so we have been referred back to post office. He had witness who provided all the details of accident but still they could not retrieve claim money from 3rd party insurer. Post office insurance company has useless staff, If u call them none of the staff has clue which department to put u through so they will pretend to transfer until phone gets cut. It's been very stressful and frustrating at the same time. Pay little more and get nicer insurer than having this insurance company. Reviewed on: 31st January 2025

Awful service.

1
Awful service. Reported an incident that took place on the 17th of October. It's now January and still nothing done. Have called them 8 times and enterprise twice who are also rubbish. Straight forward incident aswell, my car was parked. My advice don't go with post office! Reviewed on: 4th January 2025

Terrible experience all round.

1
Terrible experience all round. My husband renewed insurance only for them to cancel it and take money from our account. No reason given by customer service for this. Worse ever service. Don't call back have to wait up to eight weeks to get it resolved even though clearly mistake their side. Worst company I've ever been with with and I have been driving for a long time and have maximum no claims. DONT GO WITH, MUCH BETTER COMPANIES OUT THERE. Reviewed on: 30th December 2024

poor customer service.

AVOID! Useless and extortionate.

1
Useless in the event of a claim - will palm you off to underwriters who are equally as useless and nothing will materialise from your claim. Despite having up to 3 years NCB and going into my 4th year insuring with PO, they thought it would be acceptable to increase my monthly premium from £128 to £266! Absolute p*ss-take and a smack in the face to a loyal paying customer of multiple years. Avoid! Reviewed on: 22nd September 2024

Learn by my mistake and AVOID

Currently have a claim going through, being passed between Enterprise, Ageas and someone called Carpenter. Fully comprehensive but I seem to be chasing everything myself. Reviewed on: 21st August 2024

Absolutely useless and terrible service.

1
Absolutely useless. No help whatsoever. They will come up with every excuse under not to provide the service you pay for and will try to put you on to others, such as the RAC or their underwriters. Waiting times on the phone could be 15/20 minutes. Their customer service advisors have zero sympathy and are simply not willing to help in any way. Terrible service and I will certainly not renew with them. Reviewed on: 19th August 2024

No customer service.

I deeply regret taking out car insurance with the Post Office a few years ago. I had an accident on the 17th April and although repairs were approved, to date I am still waiting for the approved repairer to repair my vehicle. Apparently there is a shortage of parts but all that is needed is denting and painting. After having made the claim with the Post Office, one does not get the opportunity to speak to someone there regarding any issues but one is advised by the answering machine to contact another party. My vehicle is still driveable but the repairs are necessary to make it look good once again. I have taken a decision to change from the Post Office when time comes for renewal and I strongly recommend that anyone seeking car insurance stays far from them if you wish to have service when you need it.
