If I could give 0 stars I would. I have used this insurance company for years as I had never needed to make any claims so never had experienced anything bad with them until the ONE time I ended up hospitalised in Spain and they would not help. I had forgotten to take out the insurance before I left the UK so I purchased the insurance ONE day into my holiday, it wasn’t while over a week later when I was hospitalised that I needed to use it for the first time ever but they wouldn’t grant me the claim as I took out the insurance after I left the UK. Something I do not understand is if you are unable to use the insurance if bought when already on holiday, why does it even give you the option to be able to purchase in the first place once you have put in your dates?! When I spoke with an advisor she claimed it would have asked me if I’m already on holiday.. IT DOES NOT ASK YOU THIS. They have absolutely zero people skills and no compassion at all! I will NEVER be returning here as a customer, they will try everything and anything to dismiss your claim. Terrible terrible company!! Reviewed on: 13th June 2026

Post Office Travel Insurance: If I could give this company a zero, I would. Do not use this company unless you want to be given the runaround; be asked for multiple bits of paperwork over a six week period and then after submitting it all be told you had done it wrong or incompletely; be handled by 8+ different people, none of whom have all of the relevant paperwork that they have asked for; have it be implied that you are trying to game the system when you increasingly have the impression that they just do not want to pay out. Save yourself having to get a Xanax prescription and pay a bit more to another company instead. Reviewed on: 5th December 2025

I wouldn’t wasted your money here. My daughter had a nasty ear infection, I sent all paperwork off immediately and they still wanted more and more evidence about our holiday. When I ring to talk to somebody they won’t even speak to me because my partner is lead passenger on the actual holiday despite my name on travel insurance. They ask for everything via email but you email them and it gets undelivered and sent back because their mailbox is full. My sister in law had same problem with her little boy and was with aviva who has for no evidence and paid out in 3 days. I’m still waiting on money weeks later. Furious. Happy to take your money for very expensive travel insurance and made it impossible to claim for anything including managed baggage medical bills and returning early from holiday due to sickness I recommend you avoid the post office travel insurance at all costs Reviewed on: 12th June 2025

No stars - Avoid, avoid, avoid

No stars - Avoid, avoid, avoid No stars - not one star - the inability to give 0 stars artificially boosts their overall score. Had to cancel flights because of a cancer diagnosis after booking and taking out insurance. It has taken 9 weeks to settle the claim despite being straightforward with medical evidence etc all presented within the first two weeks. Passed from one claims handler to the next, some couldn't understand the medical reports, initial one failed to send us the crucial claims document - which was only sent 8 weeks after the claim was initiated - and Collinson kept asking for information that banks and airlines do not ordinarily make available. This despite several long phone calls and email exchanges. Left feeling that they will try anything to avoid paying out. Reviewed on: 7th March 2025

Helpful and professional

Customer services are always very helpful on the phone when you ring to update your policy and discuss health details. There is no waiting around in long queues. The agents are well trained to discuss what details need to be flagged up and which level of cover is right for your family. Reviewed on: 18th September 2024

Awful at all aspects of customer service

Used as felt they would be reliable, excellent at taking your money. When it comes to making a claim for a cancelled flight, obstacle after obstacle; no interest in listening to any reason, refused to offer any assistance or pay the claim. Avoid, useless policy.

I had my purse stolen whilst in Spain. It contained my passport which meant I missed my flight and had to book an extra stay in a hotel whilst waiting for my emergency passport to be issued. Costs incurred over £500. On arriving home I had submitted a claim, only to be told the insurance doesn't cover this. The only thing covered is the emergency passport which cost less than the excess! Needless to say I will not be using the Post Office for my insurance in future. Reviewed on: 5th September 2024
