Nearly lost me a home

First they increased the monthly fee from £2 to £5...then they cut the interest rate from 3% to 1.5%...well ok that's market forces at work, I guess I understand...but what really got my goat? When we moved house earlier this year, I needed to transfer a lump sum for a rental deposit...Santander blocked it because it "didn't fit my regular spending pattern". Well of course not, moving house is not a regular occurrence! There was easily enough money in the account to cover it, but despite having received certified proof that I'm a grown up when I opened the account Santander seem to think they have the right to stop me spending my own money! When I asked what I could have done to prevent this, they said "nothing, as it's automated" - how comforting! I got £30 compensation, but that's nowhere near enough for the stress of nearly losing the home we wanted (&needed) and the embarrassment of the letting agents and landlord treating me like a wanted criminal. Great interest rate

Not only do they pay great rates but you also receive cash back on household bills like Council Tax and utilities. Reviewed on: 6th April 2023

Good bank for direct debit payments

The 123 current account is good to pay direct debits. If some of your suppliers try to take their monthly bill money earlier, wich is most likely, Santander will notify you straight away and you have until 2p.m. to transfer the money in the account to make the payment. Reviewed on: 6th April 2023

Moneyback for simply spending

Had my 1,2, 3 account for few years now. my mortage is with Santander also which means I gain moneyback from this and direct debits. I can see both my mortage and account balance all in one place on the app which means my finances are easily accesible. Reviewed on: 5th April 2023

Santander 123 Lite Current A/C

You pay £2 monthly fee & you need to be a home owner to get the full benefit of cash back on your utility bills. You also get access to their ESAVER a/c that is easy access that currently pays 3.2%. Reviewed on: 5th April 2023

Poor treatment

SATANDER customer service destroyed my credit rating over a misunderstanding when closing my account. Numerous calls to customer service and credit control offices left my credit report reeling to this day. All despite having been a customer for 23 years! Never again. Reviewed on: 5th April 2023

Bank switch failed...

I completed the switch with the hope of getting the £200 incentive to join Santander. The switch failed for some reason which I wasn't informed about, and as a result not only didn't qualify for the incentive, but was also charged fees by my old bank account.
