Solid, reliable and trustworthy

I've banked with Santander for years (back to when it was Alliance and Leicester) and I've never been tempted to switch banks. The 123 account pays for itself in interest and cashback (which cover the account fees). The website and app are easy to use, and telephone support is great when you need it. They have increased interest rates swiftly after Bank of England rate rises, unlike some other banks out there. Oh, and they don't make hidden bank charges when I receive payments from abroad. So hard to set up an account.

So hard to set up an account. Couldn’t believe it. I had to wait in a physical bank twice for over an hour. And they kept sending me letters that were asking me to do things I’d done two weeks previous. Such a confusing, long and complex process I just gave up in the end. Reviewed on: 28th November 2024

Not a save bank! Lost a lot of money because of them!

Some time ago, I had Open Bank block my account there because suspicious debits were being attempted. A week after the account was blocked, Open Bank still allowed a large debit to go through from a fraudulent company. Unfortunately, there has been no compensation or apology to date. Great Bank

One of the few banks that offer an account with a low minimum pay in each month, I have banked with them for over 40 years and never had a problem, their staff are always polite and helpful too. Unlike many others they also have a lot of high street branches too. Reviewed on: 24th August 2024

Wouldn't swap!

I have had the account for a few years now. I get interest on my account (unusual for a current account) and get paid for certain direct debits. They always seem to be ahead of the game in increasing the interest rather than waiting, like a lot of other companies. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2024

Terrific Bank

Cash back on utilities, interest on current account, low monthly account charge and fantastic customer service at branches and by phone. It’s also the only bank I’ve found that gives all the aforementioned benefits and whereby you only have to pay in a minimum monthly amount of £500. I also love Santander Boosts.
