Life savers

About 15 years ago I was a single mum on the edge. Getting in touch with step change saved my life. It was easy to set up and it was so nice to talk to someone that understands and did not judge you. With their help I have paid back over £20,000 back with no worries and threats from my creditors. Yes it is a long time and I have struggled sometimes but I feel so proud of myself. I have paid back all most all the money from my creditors Now and this is all because I made that call. I will always be great full to the team for listening To me crying and supporting me through the most darkest time of my life. My call was answered quickly, the customer service person was attentive, and empathetic.i was offered choices and help when I was in despair. It took my pressure off and I put in place a plan that has given me peace and one I can manage and am committed to. Reviewed on: 24th May 2025

I can now sleep at nights.

I have suffered from depression since being diagnosed with PTSD in 1989. Life finally got on top of me, and my general health started to deteriorate as well, when I found I couldn't cope with my financial situation - I was out of work through illness and couldn't find another job because of my age, nearly 70. I was juggling credit cards just to pay the rent, let alone other expenses. I couldn't sleep, and if I did, I awoke in the early hours in a panic. I turned to Stepchange after seeing it recommended on the Martin Lewis website. They have taken control of my debts (made interest free), and I now pay a manageable sum monthly to my creditors. It's a relatively simple process. Simply produce a budget and they do the rest by dealing with the banks. I can now sleep at nights. Reviewed on: 24th May 2025
