I cannot thank AA Roadside Assistance enough for their exceptional service during my recent breakdown. Driving from Devon to London early on a Saturday morning, my car unexpectedly failed me. To my amazement, an ambulance passing by stopped to ensure I was safe, soon followed by the police, who kindly looked after me until the AA arrived. Mark Hammond from the AA was my first hero. While, unfortunately, he couldn’t fix the issue on the spot, Mark’s professionalism shone through as he calmly explained the situation, arranged for a loader without delay, and advised me of the next steps. His quick thinking and reassurance were a huge comfort. Ryan, the loader driver, was equally fantastic. His expertise in handling my car was clear as he swiftly got it onto the loader. Understanding my predicament, Ryan went above and beyond—dropping me at the train station to ensure I could get to London, while also liaising with the garage to manage my car repairs. Although the car remains in Devon and still needs fixing, I now feel confident knowing that with my open return ticket, I’ll soon be back behind the wheel in the New Year. Breaking down is never pleasant, but the AA’s friendly and efficient support made all the difference. Mark and Ryan turned what could have been a stressful ordeal into a well-handled, reassuring experience. Thank you, AA Roadside Assistance—you were truly a lifesaver! AA scamming pensioners

My parents in their 70s are gold star members of the AA, and have been for 40 years. My dad's car became irreparable when on holiday in Sussex and he tried to book a recovery to Liverpool (which he pays £340 a year to be covered for). The AA patrol man named 'Josh' convinced my dad to take it to a local garage that 'was a mate of his mums' without telling my dad that if he did this he would not then be able to claim the free recovery back to Liverpool. The garage could not repair it and charged £130 for the privilege. The AA then told my dad that they would charge him £1500 to recover it back to Liverpool as it now counted as a 'second call out'. This is a total scam. I also hear from friends and family that this is common experience with the AA - their patrol men have side deals with local garages whilst also avoiding recovery despite customers paying large sums for this service. So disappointed with AA

So disappointed with AA. They used to be excellent. Now it seems they are just lecherous con artists. Context: I've used them many times and they were fantastic. However, the past few times AA have been terrible. I brought a £180 battery from their breakdown recovery because the mechanic said it was a battery issue and then it wasn't and i still had the same non-start issue. After addressing this to them, they said they would check with the mechanic and get back to me and never heard again. This battery stopped working 2 months later and was found to be faulty and i had to get them out to replace it. The breakdown yesterday/today i was told it was an immobiliser issue, which it wasn't, since the immobiliser was off. When I addressed this with the customer service, I got asked if i was a "mechanic". I called today to ask them for the recovery which I paid monthly for and i was told "we told you to take it to a mechanic". However, since i was on a 24-hour shift i was unable to, so they told me they wouldn't come again. I asked for recovery which was included in my package and was told i would be charged £100 pounds for a 3-mile journey to my mechanic. I emphasised that this was included in my package and they said because the car hadn't been moved, I would be charged. I grew frustrated at this point and expressed my dissatisfaction with AA, I was called a "rude" customer and this repair would be closed and I would receive no help for what I paid for. This experience has left me extremely dissatisfied with AA and i will be leaving immediately. Reviewed on: 20th July 2023

Rubbish company, don't waste your money

Absolute joke, got a blow out in the middle of nowhere, Me, the Mrs and dog in the car, tried repair kit but hole to big, phoned The AA, 15 minutes to get through to be told I have to wait up to 6 hours because they are busy, waited for 2 hours and Mrs had to go to the loo in a bush, drove home with a flat tyre, obviously wrecked my wheel, I am a gold member for 21 years until I phone them and cancel, total useless company now, don't waste your money Reviewed on: 5th June 2023

Take your money but don't do their job

I paid membership since before Christmas for services including recovery to cover both my bikes. When I hit a fox and broke my wrist last Friday I needed them to recover my bike for me. Drive him two miles home. They refused because I was "involved in an accident". Even though I pay for recovery. They kept trying to fob me off saying they could claim it on my Insurance. Probably think they're clever or something. Useless money grabbers who will take your money but won't do their job the one time you need them! Reviewed on: 3rd June 2023
