Review of the Admiral, Travel Insurance:

Don't go with the Cheapest

4
I too have an annual travel insurance policy with Admiral. I have been insured with them for 12 years and had 2 claims for cancellation ( close family death and personal illness).Once I provided the proofs claims were settled with no hassle. Insurance is not about cost.It is about how you are treated in the unlikely event of a claim.Do not go for the cheapest. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

Waste of money!

My luggage was lost and never found. I’ve claimed from Admiral who have asked for more and more information( having already said they won’t pay out for jewellery or cash). Now after chasing them again, they want photos, receipts or copies of bank statements to prove what was in my case! That’s ridiculous, I wasn’t aware I should take photos of me wearing every item before travelling or that I could only claim for items bought recently( let’s be honest, our holiday clothes are acquired over several years, not newly purchased every year). So not only was my holiday ruined, but my insurance company is making unreasonable demands to prove my claim, so unfair and upsetting. Reviewed on: 14th August 2023

The death of one parent and hospitalisation of the other still not enough!

1
In Dec 2022 I booked a holiday for Feb 23. At the time my mum was having treatment for breast cancer and responding well. Sadly she deteriorated very quickly and passed away mid Jan. A week later my dad was admitted to hospital with what we thought was a heart attack, but turned out to be broken heart syndrome. There was no way I could leave him, so I cancelled the holiday and claimed on my insurance. My claim was initially declined because mum had a pre-existing condition, even though plenty of people fight and beat breast cancer, and when I booked the holiday it hadn't spread, so the secondary cancer was not pre-existing. However, I appealed the decision on the basis my dad had been hospitalised. Today I was told that because my dad was diagnosed with angina in 2005, his hospitalisation was also due to a pre-existing condition and the claim is still denied. In the 18 years since dad was diagnosed, he's never had a single issue with angina. So be warned people, if any of your loved ones have a condition that they have lived with for nearly 20 years, don't book a holiday - just in case it gets worse! Admiral's attitude of "that's just how our policy is worded" is just an excuse to wriggle out of paying what is a genuine claim. I wanted to go on that holiday, I didn't want my mum to suddenly deteriorate and pass away, I didn't want my dad to be admitted to hospital with a broken heart. Their absolute refusal to acknowledge that these were extenuating circumstances has made the most stressful time of my life so much worse. All I can do now is put in a complaint, but on the basis they take 30 working days to respond to any correspondence, it'll be 2024 before this matter is resolved. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Dreadful ..........

Took out travel cover for a year, had to make a claim for a holiday that I couldn't go on......5 months later I'm still waiting for a settlement. They asked for a detailed G.P. report and 2 minor things came back on the report, both from 2006. I told them that I didn't even remember back to 2006 and that it had nothing to do with what I was claiming for. They are the worst company I've ever dealt with in my life, your policy isn't worth the paper it's written on. Be aware there are no 5 star reviews for people trying to claim! Dont get travel insurance

Little did I know taking Admiral multi-trip annual travel insurance via MoneySupermarket means I cant now make a change and have to cancel the whole policy!! Might be in the very small print somewhere which I didnt see. Thought Admiral were a good bet as a well known company!! Spoke to an Admiral representative which was a difficult conversation as it was so noisy in the background at their end. Now having to find a new policy very close to my holiday. 9 months harassment for Police Report

1
* Informed Admiral of Accidental Loss whilst on holiday. * They accepted this, however have harassed me for 9 months to provide Police report and Crime no. * Thier claims portal is not fit for purpose. I cannot access uploaded documents. * They place you in 6 week holding pattern to review info you provide. * A few days before 6 week duration expires, they request more info. Guess what, you are back into another 6 week loop. * And so it goes on and on, took Admiral 14 weeks just to realise they needed more information * The Claims section do not reply to letters or Emails. * 9 months harassment for Police Reports, I mean, do I need Inspector Montalbano to investigate "accidental loss" of personal possessions!!
