Abysmal service - avoid!

My broker found me this policy, and I decided to proceed. I contacted them not long after policy started, and after 2 calls, waiting for over 45mins - I opted for a callback, which after a week never appeared. I’m afraid for £175 per month, I used this as a sign that I shouldn’t proceed with the policy so cancelled the DD. 1 month later they wrote asking to me complete a new DD mandate. I wrote back advising of the terrible service, to which they just cancelled the policy. A lucky escape and won’t touch them again either a barge-pole for any other policy. Terrible Service

Impossible to get through to Aviva over the phone to make or follow up a claim. Exhausting and intrusive claims process even when pre existing conditions are covered through a group policy and the icing on the cake - poor coverage. Do Not USE Reviewed on: 4th November 2023

Make a claim impossible

I went to see gynaecologist and they gave me medicine that I had adverse affects so need to go back to get different meds. Aviva don’t read documents probably say this is an existing condition and say do not do not do pre existing which it was a new condition. Then they look at the medication and say your menopausal we don’t cover that. I prove I am not and the medication can be used for different things. Then they say you have a prolapse according to the consultant notes and they don’t read clearly because it doesn’t say that. Then they Me the boss who is looking through the paperwork is medical trained. No clearly not and Aviva have been told don’t do things that cost too much money and refuse this claim. Happy to take money but not for you to claim. First time getting private health care but for sure will not be getting Aviva again. But I not sure if all insurance companies are like this. Abysmal

If ever you are in need of healthcare this is not the insurance to have. Real time communication with a representative is nigh on impossible, the ChatBot worthless and response to online enquiries / requests take an inordinate period of time, e.g.: claim with GP referral letter submitted two weeks ago and still no response. Absolute Disaster

If you want private healthcare then I suggest you stick with Bupa or Axa because at least these companies have people manning their phones ! I have spent hours on hold just trying to get through to someone ! They actually make the NHS look good ! So save your money or get a policy with a company that offers a service. Absolutely shocking. Impossible to get authority for a claim. Constantly looking for a reason not to pay

Aviva is absolutely shocking. Made me drive 3 hours to see a Specialist at a different Hospital. Messes us around with authority for our son, then messed us around with a claim form for our daughter, still havbt got authority numbers for either. Any excuse not to authorise or pay. Need to be dead before they pay

You pretty much need to be dead before they’ll honour a claim. They also need to update their medical terminology. I have two children I attempted to claim for; one has juvenile idiopathic arthritis, said they only pay for rheumatoid arthritis. Explained that’s exactly what it is only as she’s under 16 it’s called JIA. Fast forward- still won’t pay because despite having to adapt our home, employ a private tutor, give up one salary to be a full time carer as she’s not totally bed bound and can lift a glass of water she’s not sick enough! Son, 9, diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Only cover you for type 1 diabetes if you’re over 40!! Reviewed on: 20th September 2023

THIS IS A DISGRACE - TOTAL LACK OF ANY FORM OF CUSTOMER SERVICE OR RESPECT FOR THE CUSTOMER

So far I have spent a total of 5 hours hanging on for Aviva Health Cares non-existent "Customer Service", and this is just to try & get an authorisation code. Why do I have to speak (fat chance) to an uninformed call centre operative & not someone with recognised medical.knowledge. 5 weeks later, 5 unsatisfactory phone calls and endless filling in of the hopeless online form later, I still don't have a number for my treatment tomorrow. Why on earth can't I scan all the supporting paperwork to Aviva? Why can't they read the forms I fill in and not send requests 3 days later for info already supplied? Why do they close at 5pm?? Just who is accepting this rubbish masquerading as a service. I've been with 4 private medical ins companies in the past 55 years and Aviva is unrecognisable as a service of any kind. I suspect this is to discourage anyone from making a claim!. Reviewed on: 18th September 2023

Absolutely impossible to get through to speak to someone at a time I urgently need to organise health care

Shocking service! Despite texts to the chat box thing, emailing complaints and customer service I am now on hold for over 40 minutes for the 3 time this week and this is how it has been every time i have ever tried to call. I was told months ago they were short staffed yet they are happy to put my premiums up. I hope my company cancel thousands of employee subscription subsidies to Aviva and we switch to the competitor who actually respond to calls and are better rated. Reviewed on: 7th September 2023
