They dont want to give you your money!

I used to live in London and worked in the city. Usual pension accumulation. Things worked fine but I did not have to have an interaction with the back-office. That changed once I wanted my money to be transferred to my bank account outside the UK but within the EU. You will not believe me when I tell you that more than six months have passed and I still do not have my money! They hide behind "regulation" and "procedures" for "my" protection. Factually, they have humanoid robots in their back-office who do not even read when you explain to them that things are a tad different in Germany. They let me NOTARIZE my bank statement, passport, and my great grandmother's birth cirtificate! I did! Then, six months later, they send me the same forms as before, asking for the same documentation as from the outset! When you explain to them that this was all sent months ago, they tell you that you have to get a fresh set of docs. The "old" ones are void because they wasted all the time. I have experienced a lot of disorganised, unaccountable, unfriendly, unhelpful companies but AVIVA pension leads the pack. I am shocked and disgusted by the lack of interest, the unfathomable incompetence of "staff", the unwillingness to solve a non-standard procedure and the utter lack of organisational accountability. I have the suspicion that this is methodical!!! They either dont have the money anymore or just want to keep it ad infinitum! I can only recommend not to save your monies with this bad excuse of a financial insititution! NEVER AGAIN! Reviewed on: 20th July 2026

Very disappointing experience with Aviva.

Very disappointing experience with Aviva. Trying to withdraw my money turned into an unnecessarily long and frustrating process. It felt like every step was designed to put me off rather than help me access my own funds. The phone call took far longer than it should have, with repeated questions and unnecessary delays. To make matters worse, the advisor came across as dismissive and subtly rude, which made an already stressful situation even more unpleasant. Withdrawing your own money shouldn’t feel like such a battle. I expected a much smoother and more professional experience from a company like Aviva. Reviewed on: 8th July 2026

Useless customer service.

Trying to access my pension but coming up with totally inept customer service personnel. Promises made, it's 'in the post' and the same paperwork sent over and over again. I just want to claim my pension! Reviewed on: 3rd July 2026

My Works Pension

My Works Pension since Joining my current Job and started in September 2020, has added some much better features on the Site and all policies can be viewed under one Account , ie car Insurance, house Insurance, Pension, etc, offers are clear to be viewed where a possible saving can be made for multiple Products opened with Aviva. I asked Aviva to transfer an old serps pension into...

I asked Aviva to transfer an old serps pension into a new Aviva SIPP pension. Easy enogh, one Aviva pension to another Aviva pension. No ! My large amount of money went missing for over 2 months. Put in a complaint and it took them 4 months to even look. Lost interest on my investment. Stress that affected my already struggling mental health. Today I was awarded £300. Absolutely disgusted with the result and the contiual going around on circles asking where and why my money was misplaced or lost. Reviewed on: 4th June 2026

Pension transfer rip off

No transparency provided when transferring to another provider due to high charges. No breakdown provided for the amount transferred, backdated to profit from a lower transfer value when the stock market is down although the online account showed a higher value of more than £2500. Terrible customer service. do not use them for pension savings as the amount deducted for charges each month are not provided. Reviewed on: 3rd June 2026

Extremely disappointed with the service from Aviva.

Extremely disappointed with the service from Aviva. The lack of respect towards customers and the excessive delay in paying my money has been unacceptable. They gave deadlines that were not respected, and even after sending emails and following up several times, I received no proper response and my payment still has not been deposited. I would strongly advise people to think very carefully before doing any business with Aviva. In my experience, communication has been poor, promises and timelines have not been honoured, and the whole process has caused unnecessary stress and frustration. AVOID - AVIVA

I have had a personal pension with them for almost 35 years. Have been trying to initiate a drawdown for the past 8 weeks from my initial instruction. No communication, I have had to make several calls where you are on hold for at least 30 minutes to speak to someone who just says its in hand, or its been approved but will take 5-7 days to make a transfer. A week later the transfer is still not made, again several phone calls and no one will take ownership of the issue or explain why the delay, is it human error, fraud or corporate mismanagement. To anyone who might read a review before taking out a pension then my advice is AVOID - AVIVA. Reviewed on: 27th May 2026

A truly horrible experience.

A truly horrible experience. Wanted to start a drawdown. No online option. Forced to endure a very lengthy phone call on a very bad line with a man who talked too fast with an accent. Gave up trying to understand what he was saying and just kept saying yes to everything. Finally agreed the drawdown and a few days later had to read dozens of pages of documents online and complete pointless forms including having to copy a very long code by hand from one part of the form to another! Just hope the money arrives and never want to deal with Aviva again. Reviewed on: 15th May 2026
