Good service, let down by clunky mobile app

Their mobile app was one of the first in the UK to offer contactless mobile payments on Android, but the experience was a let down, with payments being unreliable and the app including a permanent notification which couldn't be removed. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2016

Horrible!

I never missed a payment on my credit card, always paying on time and more than the minimum amount. I was about £300 under my credit limit and tried making a £30 purchase using the card at my local Holland and Barrett. To my embarrassment, the sales assistant told me that my card had been refused, and that a note had popped up on their system asking them to call Barclaycard immediately. I was very confused at this point, but waited whilst the call was made. The girl then returned to me and explained that Barclaycard have refused the payment, but that she wasn't aware of why. Annoyed at this point, I asked for my card back and tried to leave the shop. The assistant told me that Barclaycard had instructed her to keep my card...!!!!! What?!?! I left the store, even MORE annoyed and confused and I called Barclaycard when I got home for an explanation. I was told a new card would be sent out. Fine. When the letter arrived, it said (without giving ANY reason at all) that Barclaycard were exercising their right to cancel my account with them and that I was to pay back all monies owed. So A company that I had been using, AND paying on time every month, took my card and closed my account without any explanation. Great company.... NOT!! I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Generally good but some issues using it abroad

I have had this card for several years but I have had a few issues with it. Barclaycard say that you don't need to inform them if you are going away yet I always do as I choose not to take my mobile or computer with me when I travel abroad so I can't be contacted. One example of a problem was that after a trip to Iceland I came home to find several messages left on my landline to say someone had attempted to use my card fraudulently. I cancelled the card, paid for a credit check and worried a lot about what may happened but it eventually turned out that it was when my partner and I had had several unsuccessful attempts at using a 'pay at the pump' petrol station in Iceland. Yet Barclaycard hadn't previously been able to give us any details of the so called 'fraud' which caused us so much worry. I ended up taking out another credit card with a different company just to use abroad that allows you to put your travel details into their website. Other than that they are a good card provider. I can't comment on their interest rates as these days I just use it as a safe way to pay online and I pay the bill immediately. Reviewed on: 6th May 2016

Great customer service and flexibility

I needed to contact them to change the method of paying my bill. The customer service advisor was very helpful and explained the process fully as well as offering options on how to set this up. We chose the best method based o my circumstances and all details were followed up with an email explaining what had happend. Very impressed. Reviewed on: 6th May 2016

balance transfer

I transferred a balance from one credit card to another and I chose Barclaycard and the length of the interest free period was just what I wanted, The whole thing was done on-line and complete within a few days and communication was frequent and relevant and since I did this I have been very impressed with the services offered by Barclaycard. great balance transfer offer

Barclaycard seem very aware of fraudulent spending.

Barclaycard give good cashback. Also they are very aware of unusual spending.We get a taped message which sounds like a scam at first but isn't. Usually it has been because of different locations or a large amount but it can be easily verified. They did detect fraudulent use once and the card was blocked, which was done without problem.
