No compassion whatsoever

My dog passed away suddenly at only 4yrs old. Phoned the insurance to advise of this. They wanted me to jump through hoops providing all sorts of documents from when he was purchased, how much he was purchased for and to provide receipts. I got him through a friend so no documents available therefore they wont pay out for his death. If i can provide docs then they will only give me the purchase amount and not the £1500 stated on my policy. Im heartbroken as my dog was my shadow and im left with a vets bill of over £4k. They were happy to take 4yrs premiums but wont pay out when needed. Very poor stay well away. Reviewed on: 24th July 2023

Just Don't - Find Another Company

1
No communication, delays and double charging excess. My claim was submitted on the 24th February for a single operation which removed two lumps. It wasn't looked at until late March and we've received emails confirming that they'll pay 2 claims with the excess removed from each. As we've had no communication from them it looks like they've decided that 2 lumps = 2 claims and charged a total of £400 in excess. Reviewed on: 29th April 2023

The Co-op pet insurance plan is great in that I have 24 hour access to a vet online something that is very reassuring as no vet near me does out of hours visits. Further it doesn't count as a claim if I do use the video consultation service - no matter how many times! Reviewed on: 11th March 2023

Since Insurance factory ltd took over it's terrible.

Coop pet insurance is now administered by Insurance Factory ltd. Don't pay claims in a timely manner and don't know who they have paid and when! Can't get through on phone and when you do, then on hold as they don't know what they are doing! Coop has sold out it's reputation big style! Reviewed on: 13th February 2023

Terrible... read the small print !!

Took my dog to the vets, it was decided he needed to stay overnight for observation at the overnight emergency vets that they use. The £200 excess was deducted for the treatment at the vets and then again at the emergency vets. In total paid £400 for two excess deductions for one treatment!! I've never know an insurance company to do this. Please read the small print when taking insurance out with the coop. Reviewed on: 9th February 2023

Go with another provider

1
Bad experience dealing with these from the get go. Having to constanstly chase, front money for treatment running into the £1,000s for months on end as they dragged their heels sorting out payments. The lack of compassion when dealing with our sick dog was also notable. I recommend going basically anywhere else. Reviewed on: 24th January 2023

Don't use this company

1
I have been told by my vets that my dog requires a operation of over 1500 pounds. I rang co op insurance in regards of this being paid for as it should be covered to be told that untill the operation is paid for by myself that they won't pay the vets. The vets have also contacted them to no avail. How they expect someone with children and on benefits to cover these costs upfront first is absolutely disgusting. You pay insurance to be covered without having to pay these bills but unless you can pay everything yourself first and would keep as far away as possible from this insurance Reviewed on: 30th December 2022

Excellent customer service

I would like to express my thanks and to mention one member of staff in particular for his help with my parents pet insurance. My mum passed away and the dogs insurance had to be switched over to my dad. My dad spoke to Neil, and he was fantastic with my dad. Neil explained clearly what was needed but also using sympathy towards him because of his loss. Neil made an upsetting event that little bit simpler by treating my dad well. I hope he sees this. Thank you to Neil Reviewed on: 21st March 2022

Claims not settled

1
I have insured both our cats with coop. Never made a claim in 11 years as both cats healthy. When my older cat suddenly fell ill and ultimately had to be euthanised, I sent in a claim at the end of November but still not settled a month later despite answering their one query on Dec 3rd.! Nobody has a definitive answer why and you can’t contact the assessor. Very poor service and very upsetting. Stay well clear Reviewed on: 30th December 2020
