Too many branch closures

Very disappointed that The Cooperative Bank have continued to close down branches. With the government' HwaWei contract I don't trust our reliance on digital infrastructure and prefer one to one human interaction. One day the West will rue its economic reliance on e-transactions without back-up. Reviewed on: 31st January 2020

Ethical Banking

App hasn't worked in ages

I do most of my banking via app and online. The fact that the Co-op hasn't had a working app for months and months is really not acceptable. The customer service hasn't been good either with regards to this. I wouldn't recommend the bank to anyone who prefers to bank online. Reviewed on: 20th January 2020

Excellent benefits with the current account, well worth the annual fee

We have been very pleased with the Co-operative Bank. We moved to the bank because of it's ethical credentials. We pay a monthly fee for the current account for which we get annual travel insurance , access to airport lounges and mobile insurance. This offers good value for money. The website is clear and straightforward and hasn't let us down. Staff are on the ball in identifying and querying any unusual activity which is reassuring . Reviewed on: 19th January 2020

Ethical Bank, great service

As one of the few companies that have a clear ethical policy, the Co-operative Bank have amazing customer service too! Not only do I know I am using a company with the same values and ethics as me, their community activities and charity partners confirm this. Easy to use app makes life so easy. When I had someone hack my PayPal account and spend £80 using card details they sorted problem right away and gave me full refund. Reviewed on: 18th January 2020

Pay for a current account with terrible mobile phone insurance ?

Coop bank use an awful mobile phone insurance company supplying "refurbished" substandard phones and have horrible customer service who try and make it difficult to claim, spoils any of the good stuff that this bank have. Have been with them 20 years but I'm going to leave. It's just not worth it when other banks use reputable companies. Reviewed on: 17th January 2020

Was good, getting poorer all the time....

I’ve been a customer for over 40 years, it grew from a very small banking group to rival the big boys. It took 15 years to get really good but has been in decline ever since especially since it was taken over by venture capitalists. The website for years was a model of clarity, excellent information at your fingertips, since the “update” several years ago it is impossible to see recent transactions that you have instigated until they clear after 2 or 3 days, other information that was just there is now hidden away, it’s all been simplified to the point of stupidity. Faster banking worked for a while but is now as slow as the days before it was instigated, presumably to save money/increase earnings. The telephone service while operated by good people is now restricted hours. Overall I’ve been so disappointed with the service provided I’m moving to Starling Bank - a breath of fresh air!
