15 Years with Cooperative Bank: A Mixed but Ethical Banking Experience

I have been a customer of Cooperative Bank for over 15 years and have been generally satisfied with my current account. The bank's commitment to ethical and sustainable practices aligns with my values, and I appreciate that my money is being used to support positive social and environmental initiatives. The online banking platform is user-friendly and convenient, and I have had no issues with accessing my account or conducting transactions. However, I have found that customer service can be hit or miss, with some representatives being more helpful than others. Additionally, the bank's fees and interest rates are not always the most competitive on the market. Overall, I value my relationship with Cooperative Bank and the impact my banking decisions can have on the world, but I do keep an eye out for better offers from time to time. Excellent bank

Coop bank is great, they offer good savings rates, update quickly and customer service is very helpful. However, their online banking and app is a little outdated and there are not as many branches around as other high street banks but otherwise they are very good and feel like a more friendly bank than others. Co-op Bank has ethical policies including no fossil fuel investments. We don't have branches of any bank in our little town but we are able to do anything we need at the Post Office or online. Reviewed on: 2nd February 2023

Failure to deal with complaints

I made a complaint about an international transfer which they messed up (and charged me for). According to their Complaints Policy they respond within 15 working days. It is now 20 working days since I lodged the complaint and they have told me that they have no idea when they will deal with it due to a backlog of complaints. Reviewed on: 26th January 2023

Constant hassle

Takes a ridiculous amount of time to get through on the phone, you can barely do anything on the app so no choice but to phone. Very unhelpful when you finally get through on the phone, and can hear other operatives loudly in the background. They usually make some sort of mistake causing me to have to waste my time ringing back. Complained via secure message months ago which they’ve ignored. Reviewed on: 25th January 2023
