Helpful when the chips are down

I know The Coop has had bad press recently but they helped me out when i found myself in dire straits, the staff were very helpful, they listened to the trouble i seemed to have got into when my husband became ill and had to give our business up because of it. We found ourselves in a bit of a pickle. The advice we got saved us from the baliffs, and they supported us through the bad financial times, which took the stress off me while caring for my husband. A bank that is your friend as well as handling your money

I have banked with the Coop for many years and have current account, cash minder and saving account. I love that even when they had some financial issues, they put me at ease and gave reassurances that my money was safe. Going into branch is like visiting friends. The staff all have time to spend chatting to every customer whilst you do your business and if there are any issues, which are rare, they are resolved quickly and with professionalism. I find the benefits attached to the current account I use to be fair and good value - I pay a small monthly fee which provides me with travel insurance, mobile phone insurance, gadget insurance and also RAC cover. I will continue to bank with the Coop and am secure in the knowledge they're a fab bunch of people as well as being a fab company to bank with. Reviewed on: 12th January 2016

Very Helpful with mortgage

Great for kids savings accounts

I have been really pleased the service from the co-opertive bank. My kids have accounts and received freebies on opening the accounts. They get regular 3 monthly statements and bonus's at the end of the year. Both in branch and on the phone staff have always been helpful. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

Couldn't have had 2 more different experiences

I had a letter querying my address despite no longer having an account with the co-op. I rang them to find that when I had opened my current account the bank had also opened a savings account that wasn't closed when I transferred banks. I asked to close the account and gave my security answers but was told it was a no go and needed to go to branch to close the account. A hassle as there is no branches in easy reach. Frustrated I ended the call and left it. On the off chance I rang again a few days and couldn't have got a more helpful member of staff, giving her the same security answers she had closed my account in less than minutes. I swapped to join the cooperative bank only to find 2 years down the line they closed the branch in my local town. I then had to travel 10 miles to the next branch which they have also now closed! Reviewed on: 9th December 2015
