Been with the bank for many years, never had any issues, if I’m not sure of something they always have somebody that can help. Never had any issues reason that made me want to change banks. Reviewed on: 23rd January 2026

Every time I have needed to contact the bank, they have been patient, informative and efficient, plus also personable - I have felt like an individual, and not just another account holder, I have left any calls or interaction feeling positive and well looked after. Be surprised by a CO-OP Bank.

I can not believe I have spent 70 years on this planet and not considered a people based company to use as my bank but boy have my eyes been opened in the last 7 months as a customer of CO-OP Bank. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2026

Brutal incompetent bureaucracy at its' worst.

Brutal incompetent bureaucracy at its' worst; what has become of the 'Cooperative' bank? After trying to arrange things after a recent bereavement, I was reassured by the bank that everything could just proceed as normal. Only to receive an email some time after saying the VISA card had been immediately that day! Directly contradicting earlier information, giving no time to make alternative arrangements & at a time when you least need the extra complications. No suggestions or mitigation, just a stop. On eventually contacting them (20 minutes on hold)I was informed that I would have to apply for a new card! A further 30 minute son hold & then informed I would be applying from scratch-no easy way to use the information they had etc. 40 + years as a loyal customer count for nothing! Absolutely brutal. A truly awful experience at an already awful time. Trying to resolve this for days & despite admitting mistakes offered an insulting sum as recompense! No attempt to mitigte their action or try to make amends at all. Reviewed on: 15th October 2025

Avoid opening current account...

Maladministration Applied to open a current account in early August - on 28/8 they wrote to me and said all was good and provided sort code and account number. By 17/9 no debit cards had arrived and the took far too long to get them to us. A total of 7 weeks to open a current account. When I called them 17/9 I spent nearly two hours on the phone they could not find me from the account number they supplied or my name and address. It took the first 47 minutes of the call for them to find me. They said that I should have quoted the application number which did not show on their letter of 28/8. We took our business elsewhere. They said that it was because of an error made by their Bristol Branch. No one took ownership of this issue and I feel their complaints team is run by a bunch of uncaring incompetents who lack the basic skills to place themselves in the customers shoes. They offered me £100 but refused to remove the credit check from my record which bears a grossly unfair and unjustified negative on my Credit Record. Avoid opening an account at this bank they are very uncaring even when admit they got things wrong. Reviewed on: 8th October 2025

Call themselves Co-operative this bank has been extremely unco-operative! False promises, broken guarantees, buck passing and ultimate upset. This operation discusses ethics when they should practice what they preach. Reviewed on: 8th September 2025
