Review of the Emergency Assist, Breakdown Cover:

The worst service provider.

The worst service provider. Their only interest is to take money and they don't care anymore. If you have a problem, they will refer you to the garage, if you cancel the service, they will not refund your money. Shame on them. I do not recommend signing a contract with them, you will only lose money and gain only anger and stress. Hands off them. Reviewed on: 19th May 2025

I have had long running issues with this company, they are APPALLING. They have lied on a number of occasions to cover their back, most recently they LIED IN A SUBJECT ACCESS REQUEST RESPONSE and have failed to respond to requests as to why they lied. I had Premium cover (still have as they have failed to cancel my policy following my request to in February) - they refused to send assistance when I got a puncture unless I paid a minimum of £125 (I declined to), even though their literature states that flat tyres and punctures are covered under all levels of cover and I met all the terms - they failed to respond to a postal complaint that they received, and signed for, in February. They only responded when I filed a second complaint via Resolver and didn’t refer to some issues that were raised in the postal complaint. On receiving professional advice, I made a Subject Access Request, questioning when they received my postal complaint and responded to it, along with the current status of my policy. Tom Coates responded to the SAR stating that they received my postal complaint on 16 April, after I made my further complaint via Resolver. I have signed evidence they received my letter on 26 February, and they were sent a copy of that on 16 April but still chose to LIE. I have questioned why they have lied - NO RESPONSE. They manipulate their Trustpilot score by getting people to review them before using their service. THERE ARE VAST AMOUNTS OF NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THE INTERNET FROM PEOPLE THEY LEFT STRANDED, THEY LITERALLY MAKE UP THE TERMS AS THEY GO ALONG. *** If you do decide to take cover, use a cashback site, eg Topcashback or the like, you will get 55% of your premium back. Hit them where it hurts, they only want your money for nothing, a really nasty company. Reviewed on: 5th July 2024

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID

Don’t say you weren’t warned if you sign up for EA’s breakdown cover. Read all the negative reviews on the internet, there are plenty of them - multiple cases of people left stranded after breaking down and EA finding ridiculous excuses not to send someone out. Their policy wordings are ambiguous to say the least, and in some examples completely contradict what EA advertise as being covered. If you contact them, and are lucky enough to get a response, you’ll find they can’t answer straight questions about their policy cover because they literally seem to make the rules up as they go along. Read up on the Haime family who are heavily involved with this company, my complaint was responded to by one of them after I went to Resolver to get them to stop ignoring my complaint, aren’t I the lucky one! The Directors, past and present, have been involved with multiple dissolved companies, and I’m in no doubt that this company will head the same way. No company can survive the amount of complaints and negativity this one gets. If you work for this company, your soul must be destroyed - do yourself a favour and find a job with a company that has decent morals and ethics, EA definitely do NOT! Shocking company. Emergency Assist - Avoid!

I purchased what I thought was European cover on their website, only to find out that their site had downgraded my cover due to the age of my vehicle to European cover without informing me that my car was not covered due to its age. Upon phoning to request a full refund, they have the cheek to now try and charge a £10 admin fee for cancelation of a service I never clicked to purchase! They are sneaky in that their European cover is named "complete" but their European cover is called premium. When you click the European cover and then enter you reg, it switches your purchases to premium without any obvious notice/alert that the cover you original selected is not valid for your vehicle, and that as such they have changed your selection to an inferior service/product. It is now nearly a week since I both phoned and subsequently emailed to request the service be canceled with a full refund and I have yet to have confirmation they have actioned this. I am also being told that they do not accept my position that the £10 admin charge is unreasonable and unfair as per consumer law and wish for this to be waived. I will therefore be going down the route of issuing a charge back if they do not cancel and refund in full without the admin fee. Such poor acceptance of their own misleading advertising does not give me confidence in the company should anyone need to actually utilise their services, and sneaky additions of fees for legally required actions such as cancelation within 14 days under consumer law do not paint a great picture. Avoid, unless you want to be having to argue over technicalities and hidden fees on the side of the roadside. Reviewed on: 2nd April 2024

On 28th January 2024 had a tyre blow out managed to drive to a lay-by on a very busy dual carriageway. Phoned EA but they wouldn’t attend unless I could prove I had a new battery fitted 11 months earlier due to a flat battery. I provided a receipt from Halfords but they still refused to attend as it didn’t have the car reg on it??. I explained on four occasions that Halfords don’t note car reg on receipts when fitting new batteries therefore physically impossible to provide something that doesn’t exist and if they did add one at this stage it would be fraudulent. All they offered was a charge of £125 for them to attend. As I was stranded I had to pay for a taxi to get home then pay for someone to remove damaged tyre and fit skinny spare. I’ve cancelled my policy with EA and signed up with Green Flag Reviewed on: 5th February 2024

SCAM BREAKDOWN COMPANY

This company would not attend my daughter when she was stranded with a flat tyre due to a pothole... they simply said "we don't do pothole call outs" !! we were and still are really angry about it as she was in the countryside and it was a Sunday and no local tow trucks were answering their phones !! she managed to get help eventually bit meant leaving the car jacked up on a verge til the next day !! She cancelled that cover immediately and now has cover elsewhere !! its a total scam of a company and seems to find any excuse not to attend !! Reviewed on: 20th January 2024

Breakdown Service Scammers

Just to advise that this company (Emergency Assist Ltd) is clearly a call centre scam operator in the Emergency Breakdown sector. I have been researching them since they left me stranded in the New Forest with a simple flat battery - this on their Premium Breakdown policy! I spoke to 4 operators and supervisors who all refused to send help, claiming 'human error'. This despite their listing stating '...our Premium with excess breakdown cover is specifically designed for the average motorist who wishes to be covered in every eventuality.’ Clearly not! They won't even come out for a simple jump start or refuel. Mine is far from the worst review I have since read about them. They are clearly just a call centre scam with no intention of sending help. Read their 1-star reviews on TrustPilot (not the fake 5-star ones they pay for) or visit their, seemingly unmoderated, Facebook page where it is clear that countless, vulnerable customers have been left in danger at the roadside. I am alerting Trading Standards, the Finacial Ombudsman, BBC Watchdog and anyone who might be interested. I suggest you all do the same. Drive safe! Reviewed on: 25th August 2023

Avoid, avoid, avoid!! Do not use. I gave it 1 star because review wouldn't allow me to give no stars. My father in law was rushed into hospital I followed the ambulance but unfortunately i got a puncture, phoned Emergency Assist and explained the situation they sent a recovery vehicle, which arrived 25 mins later, I was more than happy with the quick response, the guy turned up, I told him I had a puncture and needed my wheel changing. This guy was totally out of his depth changing my wheel. He didn't even bring a jack with him or any tools to change my wheel he asked me if I had a jack and tools. He told me he forgot to bring his trolley jack and tools so he used my car jack. I told him I wasn't very confident the jack would take the weight of my car, he said don't worry it'll be fine. He removed my wheel and to my horror the jack slipped and brought my car crashing to the floor. He couldn't get the wheel back on as the car was now too low on the ground. The guy then said he would go home and bring a trolley jack and some tools with him. He went off home and some 30 mins later the guy phoned me and said he as got 3 Jack's but unfortunately one had a leak one, was had seized, and the other one was locked in his shed and he didn't have a key!! I told him this was totally unacceptable and not to come back to my car as he was out of his depth at changing a wheel. All this while my father in law was being rushed to hospital, my wife was extremely upset, we called my wife's breakdown service, the RAC, and they came out and sorted it within minutes. Unfortunately though, damage had been done to my car when it had fallen off tge jack and dropped onto the floor. Three hours to change my wheel what a joke! I emailed Emergency Assist and explained everything, my reply from them was they were sorry to hear this but it's nothing to do with them and to take my issues up with the recovery guy... unbelievable, as they had sent this guy out to me! They won't accept any responsibility. I paid Emergency Assist for road assistance and peace of mind but I was left in a worse situation than the initial instance... God only knows what would have happened if my wife was in the car on her own stuck in the middle of nowhere. This has got to be the worst breakdown service in the UK. I sent Emergency Assist a second email explaining they were the ones who had sent this guy out to me and they should resolve the situation and reimburse me. I still haven't received a reply to my second submission some three weeks later. This company is a joke, please don't use them as they are totally useless and a waste of hard earned money!!
