Avoid Dial Direct like the plague

Avoid like the plague - the worst insurance company I have ever used. I was already insured with Dial Direct and as I was buying a new car I need to change the policy details. The new car is a common make and model - a Mercedes GLA 200d. Nomvuyo Hlabangane on the Chat line told me - "We have a C200, we do not have C200d. We as Dial Direct do not have it on file. You will have to shop around for insurance". So I phoned up to speak to someone (from outside UK). After waiting a long time to speak to someone, he eventually told me he had a technical error and would ring me back. After waiting for ages he never rang me back. So I tried again to speak to someone and waited ages. Eventually, once again someone from a non-UK call centre answered only to be told same as the Chat line thatthey had no insurance for my make and model. Moneysupermarket for one example offer many choices from different insurance companies that I could use. Now I have had to cancel my Dial Direct insurance policy and take out another, actually with Hastings, who where quick to respond and most helpful. This has cost me a £60 cancellation fee all because Dial Direct are not able to offer insurance on a common make and model of car - NEVER AGAIN. Reviewed on: 2nd February 2026

Avoid at all costs.

Avoid at all costs. Just an awful company. No communication at all,they make you ring them. A miscommunication from what i thought was a cancelled policy had lead me to owing them £176! Reviewed on: 27th February 2025

Thieves and liars

they were alright until i looked into changing from van to car insurance. First quote was around 750 annually. I called back after moving some funds around and was then quoted 3500, and the 750 was a monthly payments I DID NOT agree to go ahead with the change, I cancelled my policy and attempted to get insurance elsewhere, just to find they had taken the funds from my account anyway. At no point had I agreed to go ahead with the payment. Called them up and they claimed there was no payment taken, well my bank statements disagree. Robbing C***S Reviewed on: 26th January 2025

Dial direct gave me a cheaper quote than any other insurance. They are willing to go the extra mile by undercutting any other car insurance company, promising excellent value for your cover on your car. There on board home page, gives you all your information in one place, so if an accident occurs you just find it and explain the circumstances. Reviewed on: 4th September 2024
