Consitently good performance.

First Direct almost always excel at customer service. Their staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The odd problem is resolved quickly and without fuss. Reviewed on: 2nd June 2023

Very easy to use

First direct is a true online and phone bank, something which makes banking with them so easy. I could even pay a very large amount into another account over the phone! Debit card security has also impressed me: I've been using first direct for more than 10 years and it never got hacked whereas my card with another bank, which I rarely use, has been hacked twice. Easy set up, appears safe

Account is easy to set up. They claim there's a human assistance over the phone 24/7 if necessary, which I haven't tested. I get on with the app well enough too. Reviewed on: 4th April 2023

Good customer service

My experience after a couple of years is that this is a solid account, backed up by good customer service but an over zealous fraud team. It’s not unusual to get multiple transactions flagged for follow up, sometimes in the same week and have to wait hours for a call.. Slows things up. So, solid but not quick. First Direct's formula is very simple: intelligent humans answer the phone! It's a mystery why other banks choose not to compete with First Direct's model. These other banks actually think we like to have the phone answered by a computer, and, after an infinity of menus, connect us with a barely-competent person who behaves like a computer.
