First Direct's formula is very simple: intelligent humans answer the phone! It's a mystery why other banks choose not to compete with First Direct's model. These other banks actually think we like to have the phone answered by a computer, and, after an infinity of menus, connect us with a barely-competent person who behaves like a computer.
