First Direct's formula is very simple: intelligent humans answer the phone! It's a mystery why other banks choose not to compete with First Direct's model. These other banks actually think we like to have the phone answered by a computer, and, after an infinity of menus, connect us with a barely-competent person who behaves like a computer. Best Customer Service

I've used first direct for years. They may not necessarily offer the best perks, but my god if there is ever an issue they are the people I want on my side. Whenever you call them they answer quickly, no machine, and are the best most capable and helpful of any organisation I've ever rung. For me they are the ideal current account provider. I may choose other savings or investment accounts to store some money in in order to get better perks. But I want first direct and their can do attitude at thr centre of my banking system when I want to get things done Reviewed on: 3rd April 2023

So nice you do not realize they are a bank

First Direct has always been an incredibly helpful and serviceable bank to do my personal banking with. I have always wanted them to be my business bank as well. Staff are extremely helpful, very well trained and cannot do enough for you as well as being available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They answer the phone with a smile, which is rare in the banking world. They are the first bank that I know to have voice recognition, so you don’t need to waste time and energy going through security questions. I have banked with them for the last 30 years and have never been disappointed. Why can’t all banks recognize that we are customers and human beings, and treat us the same as First Direct treat their customers. Reviewed on: 3rd April 2023

Should be easier

I have been with FD almost since inception ands whilst not being trouble free most issues have been sorted quickly and amicably. General banking experience has to be five stars but FD is let down by it's Ap' and online banking interface. Ap' is somewhat limited and the online Log-in is so complex rendering it useless to me.
