Lack of customer service

I switched to First Direct fulfilled all the requirements and received the switch reward. I opened the 7% saver account and began saving £300 every month by direct debit from my First Direct account. So far so good. Afer a few months I received a message that my First Direct account was overdrawn. I called customer service and was told that the £300 had been taken from my First Direct account for that month and my First Direct account was now overdrawn - by a couple of pounds only. Customer Service refused to waive the overdrawn penalties. He could not explain why they had transferred the £300 to my saver account if there was insufficient funds in my main account- and why they had not informed me beforehand. I would have gladly desposited the few pounds. One would think that they would be keen to retain me a customer after paying the switch bonus.. But obviously not. Terrible uncaring service. I closed both accounts immediately. Reviewed on: 2nd May 2024

Amazing interest rate, great app features

Amazing interest rate, great app features and the ability to use the first direct debit card abroad fee free is also an additional bonus. Would be even better if we were able to deposit more than £300 a month! Reviewed on: 15th March 2024

Customer Care and Value

Customer service was great, very easy to contact 24hr/ 7 days a week. The app is super user friendly and takes no time to set up. They have a variety of accounts which works well so the customer can choose to their individual needs. The interest rates on the regular savers account is particularly very good.
