Review of the GoSkippy, Car Insurance:

I know it's a bit of a long review but worth the read.

I received my 2024 van renewal which was £649.36 (last year price £574.04) and after checking over documents I noticed that I had only 1 yrs NCB showing on my renewal policy documents. I contacted Go Skippy helpline on 02/11/2024 to advise that I will have 3 yrs at end of policy, Call handler was not very pleasant to speak with but eventually agreed to change NCB to the 3 yrs. I asked what difference this would make to my premium, I was told that it made no difference, I found this a bit strange but agreed to renew with for another year, I was emailed showing amended 3 yrs NCB and total premium was £649.36 and was happy to proceed. On 04/11/2024 (2 days later) I received an email saying thank you for renewing with Go Skippy and noticed the total price was now £819.44, I spent a couple of hours trying to contact helpline but they didn’t answer. I phoned the next day on 05/11/2024, I again found the call handler to be aggressive, He explained that the price hike would have been caused with my 02/011/2024 phone call to amend my NCB from 1 yr to 3 yr; I was blown away with this statement to be honest. I told him that I had received an updated email after the first call and everything was the same albeit the amended NCB, I reminded him that I still have this email and he then became apologetic and asked to put me on hold so that he could look into this. The call handler then came back and said that he didn’t know why this could have happened but will now need to re-quote me for this year; Strangely enough we now have the total price of £819.44 for this year. By this time I have had enough and advised him that I can’t accept this updated quote and will not be renewing with them this year, He again apologized and said he was sorry this happened, I replied “and so you should be” I asked if he could cancel any payment request with my card holder as it was now showing that there was a pending transaction for £819.44 but unfortunately you cannot cancel a pending payment request with your bank. I was told that I will be given a refund but will have to wait 3-5 days for this. To sum everything up, if I hadn’t noticed the new total amount requested on the last email received then I would have been even more upset than what I am just now. Surely you don’t treat all your customers like this? or think that everyone is stupid, vulnerable or can be intimidated by your aggressive call handlers. Reviewed on: 5th November 2024

Awful customer service

1
This company doesn't pay attention to customers at all. I contacted them a number of times in different forums, but I never got replies. I got only promises that an agent will be in touch with me shortly. Awful customer service. Reviewed on: 19th May 2023

DONT BOTHER

After my buying my car when it was taxed I only received my v5 4 days ago, therefore I did not get tax reminders or a letter through telling me to tax it. Therefore this was human error, this was at no fault of anyone. Not only did they give me less than 24 hours to find a new insurer you also gave me no warning what so ever that they were going to cancel my insurance because of this. The least they could have done was remind me or let me know not just cancel me knowing how it would affect me trying to get insurances in the future and now this is on my file for god knows how long. I think this is a despicable way to treat someone. I am pregnant and I have appointments to attend and now I have this stress ontop of this for a simple mistake which was rectified before 8am this morning before they even decided to cancel my insurance which makes it even worse!! I honestly can’t believe they treat people this way. Baring in mind they cancelled my policy 14 days before it was due to renew!! Reviewed on: 11th May 2023

Renewal quoted on phone £750 more than advertised renewal letter sent

1
My renewal letter said £562, I called and they quoted me £1250 because I changed my address to move 5 minutes down the road. I then went on compare the meerkat website and renewed for £550 which was cheaper than my orginal renewal quote anyway... Absolute JOKERS! Reviewed on: 4th May 2023

AVOID!

1
Avoid this company at all cost! They are absolute scammers and their customer service and complaints departments are completely incompetent! Second year policy with them and they requested a bunch of documents including a no claims proof which would obviously come from them, other documents all with sensitive data which I emailed 20 times across 3 different email addresses from 2 of my email addresses and they claimed they haven't received it or couldn't open it. I requested several times in writing to provide me a list of acceptable proof of address document list as I don't have utility bills and they ignored each and single one of them, they would only respond with the same message asking to provide a utility bill. They have also ignored my requests in writing to provide their data collection and retention policies as I am now worried what has happened with my personal documents copies which included bank details, address, NI, employment details from payslip. While they have given me a deadline of 7 days to provide documents, they claim they haven't received the ones I sent and the rest they keep ignoring apart from threatening me to cancel my policy and charge me fees. Absolute scammers, this will be my last time ever with them! I rather pay double! Reviewed on: 13th March 2023

Credit card fraud

My credit card was recently hacked. A fraudulent payment was made to GoSkippy with whom I have never had dealings. Despite extensive efforts to contact them I received no response whatsoever. I would never entrust my business and confidential details to a company with such flagrant disregard to the risks of fraud. AVOID at all costs! Reviewed on: 13th March 2023

Rubbish

Below standard customer service. Spoke to at least 5 people who work here, none of whom were knowledgeable about the industry they work in. I experienced lots of hidden fees and cancelling my insurance with GoSkippy was ridiculously expensive. Reviewed on: 25th February 2023
