After awful banking experiences with a previous provider I switched to Halifax and have never looked back. Everything I need all in one place and easy to access securely. Awful customer service

1
I have been a customer of Halifax for 10 years now. This week my daughter was rushed to hospital and I had to make purchases of food, taxi, and essential items from the hospital. After a couple of transactions Halifax blocked my and my wife’s access to the account with no explanation, which made a stressful situation even more stressful. When I attempted to raise the issue online I was initially told there was no block and was then told it was a fraud block, so I asked them to verify the transactions and lift the block but they stated it would remain for 24 hours. Fast forward to the result of my formal complaint and I was told it was not a fraud block, but it is their policy to place undisclosed and continually variable daily limits on transactions and they would not apologise for doing so. So Halifax is not a bank I can rely on to allow me access to my money at the times I most need it. This is an appalling way to provide a banking service. Reviewed on: 23rd February 2023

Cancelled switch. Account impossible to close

1
I tried to do switch from Lloyds to Halifax because they had offer of £150 for switch in September. However, they cancelled my switch, and when I called them they gave me reason : "because of Queen's death". After all I asked them to not proceed the switch and close my account, as they would not give me the £150. Also visited Halifax personally - and the reason the switch didn't go through this time was different - my current bank (Lloyds) didn't accept the switch, they also told me that my account is empty and they cannot provide me a statement that my account is closed. Few months later I still have an account in Halifax which I don't use and fees associated with it, which I receive on my email. Reviewed on: 14th November 2022

Mortgage with Halifax means being bullied and disrespected

1
I have a mortgage with Halifax and I called to change the interest fee in my advantage. Their mortgage advisor kept trying to convince me not to do it, saying it will be in my disadvantage, although it was in my advantage I had the right to change it. Then he bullied me asking me many times when am I going to finish paying my debt, although I have 30 years left on my loan. I paid a fee to change my interest fee and the Halifax bank doesn’t show that they received the payment not even the third day after I made the payment. They’re postponing me until they change the interest fees again to higher ones. I am drained and I don’t recommend this bank because they’re just bullies and thieves Reviewed on: 30th August 2022

Life saver for phones

My partners phone broke. The process to sort out a replacement was so easy and quick. Reviewed on: 13th August 2022
