I recently applied for a mortgage with HINCKLEY AND RUGBY BUILDING SOCIETY and was initially approved for £288,000. However, the offer was unexpectedly reduced to £273,000 without a clear explanation. Despite paying a £199 application fee, I have yet to receive a refund, despite multiple attempts to contact customer service. This sudden change caused significant stress and wasted valuable time. I believe the lender's initial assessment was flawed, as the discrepancy of £15,000 is too large to be attributed to a simple error. Additionally, I am disappointed that my bonus was not fully considered in the initial decision-making process. If you are considering applying for a mortgage with HINCKLEY AND RUGBY BUILDING SOCIETY, I would advise caution. Their lack of transparency, inconsistent communication, and failure to address customer concerns have left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied Reviewed on: 4th October 2024

Thanks go to Jamie for his service in particular pointing out that the Hospice Affinity Account was at a lower interest rate cf to the account I was closing. My reply was the thinking behind the Hospice Account - it is a pity it doesnot offer a higher rate. Reviewed on: 24th April 2024

Great and quick service

I went into the branch to switch my account, and I was seen to immediately, and courteously. The service advisor walked me through the changes, and checked through the application afterwards to ensure that it was correct so that there would be no delay. Great service. Reviewed on: 22nd April 2024

I find form filling stressful, but Jill at the Spalding Agency did all the work for me. She guided me through the process of transferring some of my money from an existing savings account into an ISA. She explained each step clearly and did not hurry me. I was very grateful.
