Frustrating

I have so many problems with HSBC locking my debit card. It gets locked at least once a week and for a period of a few months they would lock it for security reasons every time I made a contactless payment. They might still do so but I've just stopped using contactless because I couldn't be bothered dealing with it anymore. I also spend a lot of time in Norway and they also lock my card when it's used there, even though I always notify them when I'll be in that country and using my debit card. I appreciate why banks have these security procedures but it's so excessive and my card has never been used fraudulently and isn't used in any way that could be considered suspicious. What makes it worse is that they never tell me they've done it and I only find out when I come to pay for something and the payment isn't authorised, which is always embarrassing. The only way I can then use the card again is to call their customer service line and the wait is normally between twenty minutes and an hour. They're never able to give me an explanation as to why it happens at all, let alone so frequently and then they always try to sell me on other products of theirs that I've now declined countless times. They closed my account without giving me any reason,...

They closed my account without giving me any reason, didn't even give me time to switch my account to other banks. Left me with no money for a few days. Couldn't pay my direct debits which effects my credit score. Worse Bank ever. They are fraudsters not a bank. They think that they are above the law. Reviewed on: 26th April 2024

Terrible service after 15+ years of being a loyal customer. Had an appointment this morning at Walthamstow branch and when I arrived at was told that they should have received a cancellation email. I received an appoint reminder instead. I was told to wait. Waited for 20 mins. Same employee said would look into my case. He did not approve papers I was told by his colleagues (customer services team) to bring. I was there for another 20 mins and in the end he said he cannot help me with my request due to the fact I Did not have the sufficient paper. He said people on phone/his HSBC colleagues don’t have a clue what they are saying (and he side more but no need to go into more detail). Request was to convert a sole account to a joint one. After 15 years and being a Premier customer this is beyond unprofessional, ridiculous and frustrating. It’s easy to change banks. So that’s what I am doing, money current, savings accounts to another bank. People need to be treated professionally and organizations need to properly evaluate their employees. I made an official complaint and I hope they learn next time (if they care). Loyalty is a not a given. Reviewed on: 12th April 2024
