HSBC Personal Loan

My experience with HSBC’s personal loan service has been straightforward and fairly smooth. The application process was clear and easy to complete online, and I received a decision fairly quickly. The terms were explained clearly, including the repayment amount and interest rate, which made it easy to understand what I was agreeing to. Once approved, the funds were paid into my account promptly, which was convenient. Managing the repayments through the mobile banking app has also been simple and reliable. On the downside, the interest rate offered wasn’t the lowest available compared to other lenders I looked at, and the eligibility criteria felt quite strict. However, overall it was a hassle-free experience with clear communication and efficient processing. Reviewed on: 25th April 2026

Applied for personal loan to consolidate others to make it more affordable and securing the debt in one place but HSBC didn’t want to hear or care about this. I was rejected but the screen said call and they will re consider. Wasted my time as they refused to reconsider and didn’t even listen to the reasons why. Raised a complaint nothing changed the response was we will update that screen as and when. They were not interested in me as a customer in need. I then got an email about 2 weeks later advertising for me to apply for a personal loan. Bit of a joke really! Reviewed on: 23rd January 2026

This HSBC spam is absolute waste of my time!

Absolute waste of my time! I'm HSBC UK customer for 20 years. Having multiple private & business accounts with HSBC. So far I've paid around £ 3K on on basic fees to run my Advanced CA + probably around £5K on interests! ... For years I've been receiving SPAM letters from HSBC trying to sell me Personal Loan. ... Now I've actually applied for small £10K loan as proposed by bank, just to try how it works. Promised 24 hours handling time has now run up to 2 weeks and they keep asking me same questions over and over. On my last phone call I've run out of patients and told the I want to be just left alone! Very frustrating experience indeed :( Probably time for me to change bank. Reviewed on: 24th March 2025

Super quick service with no issues

Applied 5.8% apr loan

I applied for the 5.8% apr loan which went through then week later they messaged me to call then to discuss, when I called they said oh the rate has gone up for you it is 16.19%!! Absolutely ridiculous and a complete waste of my time. Have been with hsbc personal and business for over a decade I’ve never had negative balance never needed to use over draft always have money in my account. Hsbc take the most and give the littlest. Such a greedy useless bank. Will be changing to Halifax. Reviewed on: 15th June 2023
