Thieves who give your number to ambulance chasers

Someone drove into the back of the lady behind me who was then shunted into me. It happened to be at 6pm on the last day of my car insurance year which was auto-renewing. I rang them to inform them of the accident and from that moment on was inundated with spam phone calls from ambulance chasers who told me they’d been given my number by John Lewis even though I’d requested that they didn’t pass my number on to any other companies and that I was planning to deal directly with the at fault parties insurer. A couple of weeks later I received a bill from John Lewis insurance demanding extra money as I apparently had not informed them of the accident. I complained and eventually they conceded that it was not my fault so refunded part of the extra but not all and claimed that this was just the way it was as premiums had risen in the two months since my insurance year had started. They couldn’t see that this was wrong. I’ve been spreading the word to all I know to avoid them. I’ve already moved my buildings and contents insurance to an alternative provider and am looking forward to moving my car insurance away too. Thieves. Reviewed on: 1st October 2017

I had an insurance policy through John Lewis, however when I had to make a claim after an accident (I wasn't at fault), I was passed over to another company because my insurance wasn't actually with John Lewis. Unfortunately the other company were about as useful as a chocolate teapot and it was only when I threatened to take them to court as they were the company who I had made the payment and taken the policy out with that they decided to help. Breakdow recovery.

Recently I changed my insurance company from a well known large company, being dissatisfied being charged for an in car cam recorder being fitted. as this was classed as a modification. Having read reviews with so many other insurance companies, decided to join John Lewis. Unfortunately for the first time in my broke down electrical component failure. Phoning John Lewis spoke to one of the most nicest pleasant personality who was so helpful to me, Anne was her name (night staff) I was also called back by Anne with who would attend to me. Not only was my vehicle returned to my home address that night, Following morning at 8-50am received a phone call from Dawn who organised a 2nd recovery vehicle to take to a garage of my choice. Although garage was 12 miles away no questions was asked, I could not have expected any better service from John Lewis car insurance and break-down service. Been with for years but haven't renewed!

As part of my car insurance package, I usually buy car breakdown, legal protection and excess protection. This year, after receiving my policy renewal, I checked their website, and noticed John Lewis were giving breakdown insurance free for the first 12 months. I phoned to negotiate my renewal, and I was basically told 'Not negotiable, take it, or leave it!' I mentioned the free car breakdown and was just told I wasn't eligible. End of......so, end of my insurance with John Lewis, after a number of years. In the past, I have been offered JL vouchers as an incentive but not this time. I am of an age where I don't mind paying a little extra for peace of mind but I do expect good customer service and respect. I was very disappointed with the attitude and, as a result, they have lost a loyal customer. I shall do likewise when my other John Lewis products come up for renewal. Reviewed on: 28th October 2015
