I tried to open a current account online to take advantage of the offer of extra cash to use the current account switiching service. All seemed to go well and I got a number of emails welcoming me to the bank etc etc, then out of the blue a text message saying I had to go into the branch with my passport to confirm my identity. Currently living in Spain for the winter so couldnt do it. So incredibly unhelpful when I foolishly tried to tell them using their chat service as I dont like using the phone. Went from one 'chatbot' to another, no help at all. I kept asking to talk online to a real human but I dont think they have them, although their bots all had solid british names of course. Total rubbish. Appalling customer service. Then had text message to say they had closed the account!! Tried to get through to them using the bots again to ask why. Ha ha, no joy of course but I am concerned they may have put a note on my credit file in which case I shall be livid. Still getting jolly emails about how pleased they are I have joined!! Have never had anything like this before. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN NEW ACCOUNT WITH THIS SHOWER. HOPELESS. I am still furious with them. No wonder they are offering the biggest bribe at the moment. Started a swtich from my old bank as they are no longer up to scratch. Applied to Lloyds via their App and all went well until two days ago when I received a letter looking for more information and asking me to call. I phoned their customer service team and spoke to a nice lady who said she'd send me a link to verify my ID, I waited a few hours but no linked was received. So I called again to see why but snotty guy to asked me various questions then put me on hold for 10 minutes. After a few more questions about my banking he said there was no need to verify me and all was good to go. Then an hour later I get a text to say my switch was cancelled without any explanation. Least to say I have withdrawn my money and closed the Lloyds account. Thankfully there is plenty of competitors out there that will be more respective of new customers and their money. I notice that the reading of one’s bank account is so much clearer now and in much bolder letters which is very helpful for an elderly person like myself with poor eyesight. Long term Customer - all Good with minor reservations

54 years on and still very happy with their main banking (Day to Day) service. I only do laptop or phone nowadays. On the rare occasions I've been to Branch its been longwinded but ok. Their online software I find good and my only complaints are that its biased toward them selling you something , rather than let you find easily what you want - and closing down accounts sometimes throws up the odd glitch. In all, the benefit features with the account are good - AA/world travel and Disney we use frequently and at the mo the monthly costs are acceptable. If they improved their % Interest Rates , they'd get more of my money - a better loyalty bonus wouldn't go amiss too. Reviewed on: 27th August 2024
