Great introductory offers

Great introductory offers let down by a less than obvious activation process. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2024

COULD IT GET WORSE?

Before Lloyds Bank took over MBNA the level of service was excellent. Since Lloyds Bank took over MBNA the level of service has been atrocious. It took 5 months to sort out a problem that they created. Reviewed on: 21st November 2019

Best credit card for going abroad

I have used my MBNA credit card while in Spain. You get free cash withdrawal as long as you clear your balance straight away also you get the current exchange rate. For credit card spending you have 30 days interest free before you need to clear the balance. With both cash withdrawals and shopping if you don’t pay within the interest free period its 7.5% Brilliant card. Happy holidays. Reviewed on: 7th November 2019

Beware of this Scam (MBNA could avoid it)

1
Beware of this Scam! (APPLEPAY contactless purchases) NOTE - I have Never been registered with Applepay!! Someone calls in to MBNA and says the card is lost, after registering it with Applepay They issue a new card by mail, which takes up to a week to get to you * I was not aware it had been cancelled until I tried to make a purchase* In the meantime MBNA issue the NEW card number to the APPLEPAY account (This is BEFORE you get the card) The scammer who has got your card number and all your details by hacking a website then starts to spend on it - there are no limits on the value of purchases. I was, of course, had the purchases refunded (£950 in 3 days) What angers me is that MBNA make you sin into the website with 'memorable information' BUT letters/numbers from this were NOT asked for during the call to MBNA,by the scammer All this could have been avoided if this had been done It is obvious to me that there are some in customer support that need re-training. Hope this helps others avoid what happened to me Reviewed on: 7th November 2019

New application set up - 5 star, once you are a customer - 0 stars

1
I recently set up an account. I received my pin number and online activation details in the post but no card. I called them today and after a 15 minute wait (listening to a dial tone and no actual music), I get through to be told I need to speak to the fraud team who I have to call. Another call placed and I get put on hold again - at this stage I have been calling/on hold/speaking to someone for 45 minutes. I get told there is no issue. But they go to order me another card and wait - there is a problem, but I have to call New Business who are available on weekdays. Why has no one contacted me if there is an issue with my account? Why can't I be transferred rather than call and get stuck in lengthy waiting times and why are your departments not able to read the same notes as each other. As a new customer - this is shocking service. Reviewed on: 12th October 2019

Balance Transfer

Initial application process to acceptance was very slick, however it was a bit old fashioned to wait for a paper copy of a code to let you into their app. Other than that, little effort on my part to complete the transfer apart from postal delays. Reviewed on: 30th September 2019

Great communication and transparency

Always know my rates and details of interest free periods ending. Very welcoming on calls and goes extra mile to help you understand any fees. Reviewed on: 1st September 2019

BE AWARE mbna credit card is no longer owned by bank of america

1
I have been mbna credit card customer for many years and it has always been fantastic. Customer service was actually there to serve customers. It has now been taken over by Lloyds group recently and since then service is ruined. Customer service attitude is now changed to “I don’t care about you Mr customer”. Unfortunately that American banking touch is gone and I will never recommend mbna LLOYDS credit card to anyone ever. They should change nAme instead of deceiving clients. I find that they don't over increase credit limits to lure customers into over using their cards. Its always been very easy to use and to make payments. Very competitive . Reviewed on: 9th June 2019
