Review of the MORE THAN, Home Insurance:

Completely pointless and causes more stress and delays

It's been 4 days since we reported a leak and we've still had no help whatsoever. They sent round one person who was a gas engineer not a plumber so had no idea what he was looking at and left without doing anything. We've now been told there's nothing more they can do (they've done nothing) and we're not covered as it's a hot water tank leak and they don't cover them. The wording of the policy is 'We will cover up to £1,000 for our approved tradesperson to resolve emergency situations in your home. This includes: Loss of your home’s main heating and/or hot water due to failure or breakdown.' Nothing in there about hot water tanks. This has caused so much stress, I've spent hours on hold (always at our cost) or talking to different people but no one has actually come round to stop the leak or provide any advice other than essentially 'get your own plumber and pay for it yourself'. Oh and it's STILL LEAKING 4 days after we reported it! Water pouring down the wall and the joists under the tank soaking wet. 4 days of calls and waiting and now we're back at square one. Communication Poor

I used More Than for many years, until I needed to make a claim. The process was complicated, because they wanted to try to reclaim the money from the company who manufactured the appliance that caught fire. I was not kept informed of developments and found the unexpected calls from solicitors stressful. They also tried to replace my dishwasher with the same make as the one that caught fire, then when I objected, they found the cheapest model they could and weren't interested when it fell apart after a few weeks. fair price, great, no quibble service.

When I had to claim on my house insurance policy due to a bathroom flood the service I received from more than was excellent. They were sympathetic to our situation, quick to act and provided regular updates. They were understanding rather than suspicious. Reviewed on: 21st September 2018

Crooks

Great for finding a better price

More Than were very helpful in reducing the renewal premium I had and could do a better deal. More pounds in my pocket. Fab! Their customer service is also polite and clear. Reviewed on: 18th September 2018

17 years and still with them

Appalling customer service

Made a claim for 2 carpets and underlay which were damaged as a result of a washing machine which leaked. The washing machine had new pipes fitted by a local company and the leak happened as a result of this work. The company have refused to accept responsibility and so the policy excess is compulsory. The loss adjusters they use were incompetent in handling the claim and the solicitor just accepted the company's denial. This conclusion has taken 9 months, the leak happened a couple of weeks before Christmas and the company used by More Than to dry out the property was unable to supply any equipment because of the time of year. Would not recommend this insurance company as we are now out of pocket and the whole idea of taking out insurance is avoid this happening. Reviewed on: 18th August 2018

Appalling service

Home emergency cover is a joke. Reported on Saturday, sent someone out more than 24hrs later to look at boiler. Currently still without hot water (Wednesday) with no definite fix in sight. Following advice from engineer to deal with problem for intermittent period have badly scolded hands and feet from unfortunate shower incident, to then instantly have absolutely no hot water at all. Having to constantly chase for updates with no urgency from support staff, who demonstrate very little care or concern - apparently MoreThan are more than happy to leave a disabled individual without access to safe showering facilities, and could not care less about resolving in a timely fashion despite the fact that I am covered under my policy. Nice and easy

I didn’t have to claim during the time I was insured but they seemed to offer comprehensive insurance for a good price and at the end of the year when it went up it was so easy to leave them. Literally a click of a button! Reviewed on: 1st August 2018
