Review of the Nationwide, FlexDirect:

Ethical banking for the people

5
I like this building society's ethics. Customers service is always very friendly and helpful. I really appreciated the 5% cashback on spending in February, March and April. The heavy use of card ready is a bit annoying but they've been taking steps to reduce the amount of time the card reader is needed Reviewed on: 10th April 2023

Switching service

I used the switching service and I was impressed with the communication throughout the process. Bonus was paid promptly. The account has a decent interest rate and no complaints so far. Reviewed on: 16th March 2024

Easy current account

An easy current account which provides a cardholder to enter your debit card which feels safer., and you don't have to access through an app, As yet I have not had any problems Reviewed on: 15th March 2024

One of the best banks in the UK

I have used Nationwide for personal banking for over 35 years. When they brought out the app it worked well, and I have not needed to go into a branch for many years but the ser ice has always been excellent. Reviewed on: 12th March 2024

Nationwide - good value, poor processes

Nationwide are good overall. Their attention to detail can be poor, particularly in their process, procedures and systems. I have two accounts which Nationwide have either not opened properly or not closed properly, and Nationwide have said that they have no intention of fixing the underlying system problems. Easy banking experience

A good main bank account. Online app is easy to navigate and switch between FlexDirect and savings accounts. It's easy to set saving goals and round-up feature is handy. Could be improved by budgeting tools to categorise payments. Reviewed on: 17th February 2024

I was able to open my account online and have used the app for everything I need. It's a little annoying and outdated that they send a card reader where you have to insert your card to approve online transactions - thankfully you don't need this for every transaction. The interest rate is good but only for a low balance so I've opened a savings account with a different bank, even though I'd rather keep products with one provider. Reviewed on: 15th February 2024

The app is a bit clunky. The interest rate is competitive. Annoying you have to use card readers. Staff are friendly and helpful. Nice that everyone is a member rather than shareholder. More branches than other providers. Reviewed on: 15th February 2024

Solid but uninspired bank choice

Nationwide, while a stalwart in the UK banking sector, leaves much to be desired in terms of innovation. Their online and mobile banking platforms, while functional, lack the modern flair and advanced features that other competitors offer. In addition, their customer service, while satisfactory, can at times be slow to respond. Although Nationwide's range of financial products is extensive, their offerings may not always be as competitive as those from other banks. Consider Nationwide as a solid, if somewhat uninspired, banking choice. Reviewed on: 15th February 2024

I chose Nationwide for their ethical position and I'm happy I did. Everything is good, but their app isn't quite as up-to-date as other banks. For example, you can't pay cheques into your account with the app. Reviewed on: 15th February 2024
