Complete waste of premium

My wife and I ( 78yrs and 75yrs ) went on a coach holiday to Killarney in Ireland . My wife had the great misfortune to suffer a fall on a lunch stop on our way to our hotel in .killarney . She was examined at Killarney Hospital and referred to Tralee . It was a bad break that required surgery and a three day stay in hospital. Despite having receipts for 1 doctors initial referral 50 euros. 2 taxi fares , all transport was at our cost 300 euros . 3 Necessary drugs 30 euros . and various incidentals . Nationwide were were completely unhelpful, and in short we will not receive a penny . It took less than 5 minutes on the phone to take our annual premium , and possibly over three phone calls approx 45 minutes of placing obstacles at every point possible. Even to the point of saying that we must provide them with a ferry ticket which none of us had . It was done in a party of 48 people . I am tempted to use some Very colourful language , but I will close by saying that at least Dick Turpin wore a mask . These b******s don’t . . Reviewed on: 19th October 2018

Beware Nationwide FlexPlus accounts

The travel insurance provider for Nationwide FlexPlus account has recently changed to Aviva. Fair play there is no supplement for over 70’s but the additional premiums you have to pay for medical conditions or extended trips (ie more than 31 days takes the cost through the roof. In my case by hundreds. I have just been notified the account cost will be going up to £18 per month from December 2024 adding a further £60 per year. If you are thinking of this account beware. I suggest you get some indicative premiums from Aviva before you commit. Reviewed on: 5th September 2024

Flex Plus account offers unbeatable value for money...

Flex Plus account offers unbeatable value for money in terms of the extras it gives as part of the package. As long as you agree to deposit £13 a month into the account you get free travel insurance, breakdown insurance and gadget insurance. These are not cut price packages that they offer for example the travel insurance covers you world wide and the breakdown insurance includes European cover. Older people or people with health conditions can still obtain cover at very reasonable prices and it covers the whole family. Reviewed on: 25th August 2024

Excellent product, offering phone insurance. travel insurance and AA breakdown cover for just £13 a month. Whats more is for the past 2 years Nationwide have given their customers £100 so this account even better! My whole family have an account. Reviewed on: 22nd July 2024
