Free foreign atm cash withdrawals I love the free foreign atm withdrawals from the flexplus. I travel abroad a lot so the monthly fee is well worth it. Reviewed on: 16th April 2025

Great packaged current account

Great experience with the current account. Have used the included travel insurance for a claim and it was amazing service. Other perks make this account great. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

Useful benefits compared to other package accounts

I never really expected myself to buy a packaged account, as typically they come with several products that are not particularly useful. FlexPlus however is a different breed of packaged account, which, for my circumstances, actually comes in useful. Particularly, we travel to europe by car fairly often, and the combination of travel insurance, european breakdown cover and fee-free cash withdrawals at the visa rate is really handy and means it's one less thing to think about when we go away - actually three less things! The extras are not just bog-standard insurances but are actually quite comprehensive in what they cover. I have actually used the breakdown cover and they were very helpful at the call centre in answering my questions about the policy, quickly arranging for a local recovery company to tow the car from home to a local garage. On top of this the mobile phone cover and extended appliance warranty are reasonable additions (sadly though an electric oven doesn't count as an appliance so this has been of less use to me as it is the only appliance I have purchased since opening the account) I would also like the option of a contactless card rather than apple pay which only a small minority can use. Overall this is an account with an excellent set of benefits and I have had no problems with the running of the account. For anyone who will make use of these benefits I would recommend it. the customer service was second to none, any questions i had about the package i was interested in were answered in a way that was understandable and inspired confidence .

Excellent switching service

I moved over to Nationwide after experiencing problems with my previous bank. The switching process was extremely smooth with regular updates by text message. Reviewed on: 26th August 2015

Good product with decent ancilliaries for an ok price.

Having been with an 'ethical' bank for a while who turned out to be anything but when it came to hiding thing from customers I decided it was time to switch. I wanted to bundle in certain annual policies so they were all in one place and provided the cover I needed. Nationwide's Flex Plus account costs me £120 per year in subscription fees which after replacing 2 x breakdown policies and my annual holiday insurance has worked out slightly cheaper all in. The account is easy to run with online banking and the Nationwide app, I've never needed to speak to their call centres and have only been into branch when I needed to pay coins over the counter. I have had no real reason to complain since opening the account (13 months ago) although there are some things I wanted (or still want) to improve. Details of these are below: - Branches will only take 5 x coin bags per account by day. Bit of a drag the first time I made the trip into town to pay in loads of coins I'd saved only to have to go back again. - No cover for motorcycles on the breakdown cover (this was actually changed after I'd been with them about six months so no longer an issue - very pleased) - Debit cards not contactless (Nationwide now support ApplePay however so I'm sorted now as I use an iPhone, it would still be an inconvenience if I didn't). All in all the account fulfils my needs with the extra bonus of identity theft protection and extended warranty (neither of which I'm particularly fussed for but will probably come in handy should I ever need them). In the limited contact I've had with Nationwide staff they've been friendly and professional although have the same annoying habit of trying to sell you something whenever you speak to them, I'm happy enough to say no though so not too much of an issue. Very good for a packaged account, though as with any packaged account think carefully to decide if the benefits are worth the cost.

Nationwide's FlexPlus account is possibly the best packaged bank account on the market right now and could save you significant money. However, for most a fee-free bank account is probably the best option. It's biggest pluses in my opinion are the fee free overdraft for 3 months, European breakdown cover, worldwide family travel insurance and fee European ATM withdrawals. If you're planning a car trip to Europe by ferry or channel tunnel, then this account is perfect. There's also no minimum time you need to keep this account, so if circumstances change you can downgrade to Nationwide's fee free normal flex account. Other benefits include extended warranty cover on selected purchases and mobile phone insurance. A very good account for some, but do the mathematics on benefits versus the £10 / month cost. Great value current account

This account comes with a lot of perks which makes it a great overall deal despite the £10 a month fee. Would recommend but only if you can makes the most of the perks. Reviewed on: 12th March 2015
