The FlexPlus account is, in my view, great

The FlexPlus account is, in my view, great value for money, essentially for the insurance perks it offers for a competitive overall price. Being able to go abroad without worrying about travel insurance is always a plus. As is - especially with kids - a mobile phone insurance policy covering several devices (an excess does apply, however). Having breakdown cover on top makes this trio of included policies - with no-quibbles whatsoever (even though I have only claimed once) - makes it a no-brainer for a mere £18p/m. Yes, that premium has increased since I took out the account some 6/7 years ago, but arguably only in line with the level of inflation those individual products have experienced. In fact, I’ve recommended this account to others, such is my satisfaction with it, and the knowledge that I am banking with a mutual - rather than a faceless plc - gives added satisfaction! Awful mobile phone insurance.

Awful mobile phone insurance. One phone came back still damaged. I gave up on that claim. The second one was a pixel 6. The excess costs as much as a screen replacement in town. But by using the insurance I'm without a phone for a week. Reviewed on: 29th December 2025

After years of paying for the FlexiPlus account for its gadget cover, I made a claim for my broken iPhone. The experience with the external insurance administrator was poor. They were unhelpful, offered no loan phone option, and expected me to mail my device—which holds all my confidential data—creating significant hassle and security anxiety. The hurdles in the claims process are disappointing and not what you expect after years of premiums. I've now cancelled FlexiPlus. My advice is to get gadget insurance elsewhere where you can get local, practical help. A real shame, as Nationwide's core banking services have always been great for me. Have been with Nationwide for many years and they are just brilliant! Customer service is excellent. Helpful and efficient- so friendly! They make everything easy.
