NatWest Cash ISA reviews (91)

Review of the NatWest, Cash ISA:

Easy to use website/easy to transfer money in/out

4
I signed up for a savings account with Natwest online. I found their website easy to use and the account was set up within minutes. I also use NatWest's mobile app - I find this very accessible. I can transfer money in and out of the savings account easily and can see at a glance how much I have in my account. Although interest rates are low this is across the board with mainstream banks therefore I will not mark them down because of this (written in August 2016) Reviewed on: 30th August 2016

Great in Emergencies

4
I don't really have many dealings with Nattiest but the times I have stand out as having provided me with excellent customer service. Once someone had obtained my details and had used them to purchase iTunes gift cards. Nattiest saw this and stopped it immediately and refunded me my money. The second time was when I lost my purse. NatWest were extremely helpful and accommodating, reassuring me that my money was safe. Reviewed on: 30th August 2016

Their overdraft interest charges are very high

3
Have an arranged overdraft with Natwest but their fees and charges each month are very high. Having said that I have had this account for 23 years and what I find most positive about them is their online banking app is great. Reviewed on: 30th August 2016

Very easy to purchase!

I had been putting off taking out any banking products at all thinking it was going to be so much hassle and take ages to sort out but with Natwest it was all sorted out really quickly and I had everything I needed within hours! I'd definitely use them again and have already recommended them to friends and family. Reviewed on: 30th August 2016

In Flagrante Delicto..

I would like to share my objective 10 year experience of this bank which climaxed recently in near personal tragedy. Quite frankly, they are more like a circus of clowns than a bank. I will stand by this review in a court of law, with my hand on the bible and surrounded by my peers. Trustpilot may approach me to evidence this review. I recently logged in to my banking app to find that after 10 years I mysteriously had no current account. I called Natwest ‘customer services’ to be greeted by the disinterested and incompetent customer service that I have become well accustomed to. I was eventually (the advisor managed to put me through to the wrong number twice..) told my current account had been frozen. To clarify the law on this; it is unlawful for a bank to freeze an individual’s bank account (whatever the reason) and withhold their money without a court order. It is basically fraud/theft. The fact that I also wasn’t informed was, in itself, a reckless act. I have Type 1 Diabetes and long standing health problems for which I am receiving the highest rate of Disability Living Allowance. Except a little money my partner could afford to lend me I had to go without food or basic amenities for 4 days thanks to Natwest’s incompetent, unlawful and reckless act. Predictably enough I became unwell and a duty doctor had to be called. I made a formal complaint online in which I justifiably threatened to sue Natwest unless my funds were released. Sure enough, they did unfreeze the account as they knew they were in the legal wrong but they didn't even show me the basic respect of informing me that they had unfrozen my account, I had to log in to internet banking to find out. I have been an enduring Natwest Customer for 10 years. Despite their near constant mistakes and appalling customer service (a term used loosely in this case) I have stayed with them. To give one e.g. I recently changed my name. Normally an individual sends a legal copy of the deed poll of to a company (financial or otherwise, this make no difference) and the deed poll is returned by recorded delivery within a few day’s. However, in the case of Natwest, I had to take the deed poll in to a branch and then had to return no less than three times due to mistakes their incompetent staff had made. I am someone who tries to ‘see the wood through the trees’ and I do not relent to subjective knee jerk reactions but clearly enough is enough. I have now signed up with another bank and was quickly put at ease by their obvious competence and respectful manner. Natwest has ‘compensated’ me with £50 along with a pathetic letter from a so called complaints advisor (quite frankly my 15 year old niece could have written better). This only serves to rub salt in the wound and in no way ‘compensates’ me for how they treated one of their loyal customers. I am blatantly disgusted, appalled and shocked. I am currently taking advice on instigating legal litigation against Natwest through the High Court, very likely. Reviewed on: 27th August 2016

Cash ISA review

3
Natwest always notifies about the functioning of my cash ISA, always let me know how much I can still put into the ISA, there are probably better ISA with a higher amount of interest, but I use my ISA knowing that I can withdraw money at any time, it shows on banking app and I have never had a problem with it. I understand interest rates are low but why are other banks and building societies offering higher rates of interest. Nat west should be encouraging people to say more even if it's a token small rise in interest rates.

Never had issue. Although interest rates aren't great (no worse than most banks) Customer service is second-to-none. Always helpful. Branches are nice atmosphere too. Reviewed on: 14th February 2016

Interest rates unappealing

I had banked with Natwest all my life. In the last year the ISA inerest rate changed from 0.5% to 0.25% so moved my cash elsewhere. No incentive to stay with Natwest at all. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2016

shame - I used to like natwest but awful pricing for loyal customers

2
I've been with Natwest 15+ years and always saved/banked with them but every year for last 5 years they have continued to reduce my cash ISA interest rate without fail. It is now a pathetic 0.75% and as a gold account customer (paying £20 p/m) and banking with them for 15+ years I see this as pure profiteering. I have already started to invest my cash elsewhere and will shift my ISA. Then the incentive to continue to bank with them will diminish as competition is fierce for current accounts. Shame on you Natwest, you are taxpayer owned, you should show your loyal (taxpaying) customers a better deal. Reviewed on: 25th January 2015
